“Nice position and clean room.”
Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

I stayed at Sea Villa 3D2N in Dec.2013
- Nice hotel position. Next to the beach and near the famous narrow view of Koh Mook
- Clean room with good air-condition.
- Clean toilet with fresh water service.
Don't be over expect with the service and food. Good place to sleep then take a trip to other islands during days and have dinner outside.

If you're after a relaxing air-conditioned resort with a pristine powdery white sandy beach, then this is the perfect place. The beach is literally on the doorstep and the sea is very shallow and so is ideal for children to play in.

Location wise, you are about 5 minutes from the pier and the village is right outside where there is a Mini-Mart and lots of local restaurants. (Don't forget to bring Baht for the village shops, because there is no ATM on the island.) You can easily use the hotel bicycles to cycle around the island and because there are no cars, it's very safe to do so.

The food is great, you can choose Western or Thai for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even our super fussy daughter, was delighted. I loved the Western food and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Thai food. What's also lovely is that there is no schedule, you can eat whenever you are hungry.

The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. They will happily arrange transfers from just about anywhere (even Kuala Lumpur) and the Emerald cave tour is not to be missed.

We loved our stay here and can't wait to go back again!

Room Tip: The suites are on 2 floors and you get a great view from balcony at the top floor.

Riviera is one of the best mid-range beach resorts I have ever stayed at. At first I was thinking of staying just few nights, but place was so superb that I stayed there 12 nights in skyroom no 1, which had beautiful garden view and it was only one minute walk from the peaceful beach.
Professional management, really helpful and friendly staff, good (but pricey) food, great location just by the beach and few minutes walk to village. I checked also other resorts, but In this price category I could not find better in Koh Mook. Really recommendable!

Room Tip: Skyroom no 1 (first one at upper floor) has best garden view and most privacy. If you prefer sea vie...

They are trying hard but we paid 133 USD per night to stay here (extra bed was not suitable for an adult as was couch/futon folded open with contours), grounds were littered (agree with below review that though plenty of people working, don't know what things are important to pay attention too ie picking up litter around bungalows), food was expensive though good, beach in front of hotel is too shallow to swim and water hotter than a hot tub! Room was spacious, stayed in a Blue sea villa, bathroom was very basic and a little hokey, maybe a little dirty. imagine it would be slightly more picturesque in the wet season as yard was cripsy and brown in February. beach is good for walking around long sandbar. 200 yards away there is good beach for swimming. no snorkelling really. village nearby is friendly, very rustic, few dining options and one massage place. if you are arriving to the island without lodging this is a good back up as i think they will always have openings judging by the time we spent there. Hat Farang beach busier but better snorkelling options and really more beautiful. Charlie's was similar price and uncomparably nicer facilities. moto taxi from Hat Farang beach should be 50 baht per person, water taxi charged more and claimed that it would be the same as moto taxi. This hotel is near the village pier - 2 other bungalow options in this village that looked to be acceptable (one called Coconut Bungalows i think, not beachside, the other is Mook-something) and probably in the 400 baht per night range instead of the 3500 baht per night range.

Room Tip: think you will be disappointed with the location of the cheaper rooms though the quality is likely t...

The resort staff was very friendly and were accommodating when asked, but you could tell that none of them have had any prior hotel/resort training or experience. There was just a lack of attention to details or the small things that matter. If the price had been less I would have been okay, but at over $100/night you should hit some basic expectation levels. The location on the beach was probably the 3rd best beach on the island in term of size. There was a lot of glass on the beach which had washed ashore, although I never got cut, I was always on the lookout for it when I walked on the beach. With the low cost of labor the hotel could easily hire a few people to clean the beach at least once a day. We had a 2 story bungalow which was relatively new and constructed very well, but very basic. The only thing lacking was hot water; not that it is needed, but would have been a nice to have at the price I paid. There was AC on the top level (bedroom area) which made sleeping at night great, but the bungalow also had a lot of windows and there were 2 fans so sleeping at night with the windows open was okay too. We had a king size bed that I have found to be an oddity in SE Asia which was very nice verse 2 beds pushed together. The mattress was not rock hard either. The internet connectivity was GREAT and a very strong signal. The resort offered a video/DVD collection to lend out (free of charge) it was great for winding down in the evening, and the TVs where modern large flat screens too. Breakfasts in the morning where made to order and you could eat as much as you liked, but the 6 item menu was the same for the duration of our stay. It got a little old after the 3rd day. I would consider staying here again, but the price would have to match what I knew I was getting.

Room Tip: I would request the rooms that face the beach vs. the new rooms that they are building towards the b...

Koh Mook is a beautiful islands and well worth a visit. If you arrive by speedboat you will arrive at the Charlie Beach Resort. If you walk through the resort you can get a local taxi to take you the Nature Beach Resort for 5o Baht a person. If you arrive at the pier it is about 500 meters away or again you can take a local taxi.

I have lived in Thailand for 5 years and had the opportunity to stay in many places while traveling in the country. This place was too expensive for what you get compared to other places in Thailand. This may just be common for this island as I'm not sure the price and quality of other accommodations.

The rooms were very clean and quite large. They have a few rooms that are beachfront and then some that are 'beachside' as we were. There is AC which is a bonus. The bathroom was clean and basic with cold water.

The food we had here was below average if you like Thai food. Go somewhere else for meals. We did not try the western menu so I can not comment on the quality.

We were there for NYE and had to pay for the compulsory buffet and 'shows'. The food again for not the best especially not for the price you pay. The shows were sad but the families there seemed to have fun. The first show was hulu hooping/dancing girls (age 4-10 years old). The second was a 'fire show' where they guys performing set his pants on fire and dropped the stick at least 10 times sometimes on himself. I have seen many types of fire shows in Thailand but for this one I was truly concerned about their well being.

Single? This might not be the place for you. The resort was mostly couples with children.

The staff was extremely welcoming. They had a great time at the NYE dinner/show and were always smiling and willing to help!

Room Tip: The beachside rooms are not within view of the beach if that matters to you :)

Showed up in the pouring rain and was late so obv nobody else was going to show up for rooms. The people working weren't friendly nor did try to help with the rooms. For payig 120$us a night you'd expect an over average room but it was bland and the " beachview room" wasn't beachview at all. It was clean with a few bugs in the bathroom . Th beach in front of the resort wasn't kept very nice , like you'd expect. The free breakfast was average ( should be free with the price people pay !! Jut an overall disappointing place .
