“Great Stay in Provence”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

We stayed here in the summer of 2011. We were returning to Paris by car from Nice, and wanted a 2 day stay in Provence. The village of Les Baux was not our first or second choice, but what a nice surprise. We would highly recommend staying here or at least visiting Les Baux. After a long day on the road, we missed our dinner reservation at the highly regarded restaurant but the proprietor was still up and brought a charcuterie cheese and bread plate with a bottle of the local red wine. It was very nice, and hit the spot. We had two rooms (family of four), which were small but adequate. However one of them was without a/c so that made for a warm two nights. The pool at the hotel was nice and helped with the warm days. The walk to the village was easy, and kept us busy for one whole day.

Room Tip: We booked late and had rooms facing the mountain. Better to book early and get the view of the vall...

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quaint, well-maintained hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room we stayed in was excellent. The views are great.

Room Tip: Suggest the rooms upstairs. We stayed in room #7 and really liked it.

Overpriced. Room was tiny and we expected a room that was something totally different per the website. Hotter than hell in Baux in late August---which I was ok with. The pool was refreshing. Food was good, but overpriced.
Check out Mas de la Dame though-the wine is amazing.

Most likely would not stay here again.

Hotelis just walking distance from the castle and village.
Hotel Restaurant is very nice and good place to get a proper diner (beware -not cheap option).Hotel stuff were very nice and try to assist with any issue. speak understandable English.

The drive up the mountain to Les Baux is stunning! The hotel is very nicely appointed with an amazing clear, unobstructed view of the valley and of the castle.
The staff spoke English (yay for us!) and was so friendly. The grounds are impeccable. The pool was very refreshing and welcoming after a full days drive from Paris, and we had it to ourselves.
Dinner served outside was so romantic. The sky turned from orange and purple to a dark blue with a few shining stars, as the full moon rose from the side. Lights twinkled, wine glasses clinked and a few other couples chatted quietly, obviously as taken as we were by the romance in the air. The bees and hummingbird moths were busy on the honeysuckle but as soon as darkness fell they were tucked into their little bee beds and there was not a sound to be heard, not even a cigale. From our room we could look out the door and see the castle lit up in the night sky just as she has stood for nearly a thousand years.
Breakfast is also served in the courtyard, weather permitting. We were sad to go but left feeling absolutely satisfied and refreshed.
It is only a short walk to the village and castle, which is bustling with exciting little shops selling Provencal items and ice cream, cafes, etc. It is free to enter the village and walk around. Great views from every side.

Room Tip: There are two troglodyte rooms, where they are built right onto the side of the mountain so there is...

The hotel is located at the foot of the famous bauxite and limestone outcrop - very spectacular. We had an upstairs room which was very comfortable and had a balcony.
The pool is a great place to chill out after a day of exploring and the restaurant was very good and had lovely ambiance.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights and really enjoyed it. It's only a 5 minute walk to the castle, the pool is nice and the rooms were very clean and the service was great as well. The hotel does have a restaurant but we never ate there so I can't comment on that. The menu did look great though and the restaurant is really beautiful. We sat outside each night and had wine and coffee. The setting is beautiful. As one review mentioned, the menu was a little pricey to eat, but with the short walk to the castle you can find many restaurants at all price levels. We would absolutely recommend this hotel. Les-Baux-de-Provence is a must see in France and this hotel is perfect for seeing it.
