“The Real Deal: Wonderful Food, Ambiance, and People”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

This restaurant is well located in the heart of Les Baux-de-Provence, just beneath the walls of the Chateau des Baux. There is a charming, quiet outdoor terrace and nicely decorated indoor dining room. Come hungry! You will want to order desserts as Chef Pierre won the prize "Champion de France de Desserts" We ordered his prize winning dessert "Delice au Chocolat", a fabulous torte made with several layers of different chocolates from around the word, that was almost too pretty to eat. We also ordered a sampler which featured 7 of his desserts and WOW, each was better than the last. Very memorable was the Creme Brulee just scented with lavender. Going backwards, the duck entree had a perfectly balance cherry sauce and a cod-like fish topped with tomato and finely minced chorizo was subtlety flavored, Our appetizers, duck pate and goat cheese wrapped in filo and topped with honey were also delicious.

The memorable dining experience was matched by our meeting with Chef Heloise and Pierre. We were over one hour late for our reservation (!) and they graciously decided to seat us even though the terrace service was closed. Chef Heloise was serving due to a sick waiter and spent time explaining the dishes to us AND even some of the techniques used in preparing the dishes. Chef Pierre greeted us and we felt very special.

This was a very memorable meal and I highly recommend Cafe des Baux.

“The place-to-be and trendy cuisine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

In the heart of the splendid village of the Baux-de-Provence, a nice terrace, don't forget to book in advance, first menu (2 courses) for 20 euros, quality products (lamb from Provence). Trendy decortion(benches with cushions, candles,...) Sometimes a bit too elaborated, some dishes could be just as good with more simplicity. This is also true for the head-waiter... that we didn't find discreet and classy enough, although some clients could find him funny and enjoy the show.

“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

Visited recently, not for the first time. Excellent, well presented food and good service. If I had to pick up on anything it would be that the 29€ menu has gone, now it's 19.50 or 35€ for a set menu. Went or the 19.50€ starter and main then added the trio of deserts at 12€ - well worth it though.

“Worth the climb!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

If you scroll down past the English and Italian contributions, you will notice that the majority of the reviews of written by the French themselves. During out lunch on June 14, our table was the only non-French table. (I do speak French.) At 11 AM, I notice our server putting the finishing touches for the lunch crowd. It was a good think we reserved our table, as it was almost "complet" when we arrived at 1 PM (it was fully booked 15 minutes later). The menu was rather strange in that the salade gourmande listed seven or eight different preparations, including foie gras and a confit of some kind. We just wanted the non-meat options. Our server explained that you get everything--"tout" was his word but he managed to give us extra helpings of grains and crudités (raw veggies) at 20€ each. And quel festin! The servings were enormous and even included giant scampi. A half liter of local rosé (15€) accompanied nicely. Of course with all the publicity about the desserts we each indulged in sorbets and large cookies, freshly prepared that morning (10€ each). While the total was rather high, at 75€, we felt the quality trumped the price. I should point out that when we arrived, there were three tables available. Although our assigned tabled had an excellent view of the cliff sides, we both knew that withing a half hour we would be baked. Our server found us a perfect table in the shade. He was truly excellent in his ability to multi-task. And I imagine he will repeat the whole affair in the evening. How lucky for someone able to return!

“Thank you trip advisor”

We stayed in LB halfway through a 2.5 week vacation in France. We ate at multiple Michelin starred restaurants and this was not only on par if not better than some, it was in some cases 1/3 of the price.

Great staff and the desserts are not to be missed. Did I mention the desserts? This guy is a pastry champion...........
