“Great Experience”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

The staff here is very knowledgable and you will see items in the museum that you won't see anywhere else. However, this museum is probably best suited for those that really know what they are looking at, and that can appreciate how rare some of their items are. The attached gift shop is fabulous.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We get a lot of people who appreciate the quality in our store and in our museum fossils, however rarely does anyone take the time to write about this on Trip Advisor. It is true our museum fossils are unique and quite rare. A fast walk through will not wow you however. Our gift store is the largest in Drumheller and has very good quality and prices.

“Yawn...”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

25 dollars for a family when it should have been free. The only reason I gave this three stars was because my 2 year old nephew was deathly afraid of the animatronic t-Rex. Most of the fossils were fake and for a grown up it was pretty boring. Just go to the museum and don't waste hour time here.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. This reviewer factual statement that "most of our fossils are fake" is not accurate. More than 90% of our museum fossils and displays are real. We have incurred a great expense to provide valuable and real fossils in our museum. Yes our animatronic T.Rex is exceptional, thank you for appreciating that fact and the expense we incur to provide this extraordinary experience. If museums were free then no private or public museums would exist without a significant increase in your taxes and the majority of people do not accept that tradeoff.

“An abuse of the word Museum”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

It's a SHOP mostly there to sell stuff and to ride on the coat tails of the Tyrrell Museum. Taking children there (our two grandkids 6 & 7) is looking for trouble because they want to buy the overpriced junk and you have to say no, which seldom turns out well.

Thank you for writing about Fossil World. Most people with kids 6 to 7 years of age have a great time at our facility and in our store. We work very hard to provide great products are very reasonable prices and we do not sell "junk". We understand that not everyone has the budget to take their kids to a museum, provide them with an educational program, or buy them toys. We believe our family pass for $24.00 plus GST is a great value for the budget minded family visiting our facility.

“Waste of money and time. Fake!”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

More money than the Royal Tyrell Museum with much less to see. Most the fossils were made of plastic! Every little thing cost extra on top of the $25 for a family of 5 ages 6 and under. The play gym is better at a McDonalds!!! and cheaper. The robotic dinosaur was the only cool thing. Dont waste your good money. Will never go back to this museum.

Whoa? Our fossils are not plastic nor fake. All natural history museums have some replicas. Did you know there are less than 50 real T.Rex skeletons in the world? We do have 5 real T.Rex vertebrae and yes our full T.Rex skeleton is a replica. Our percentage of real versus replica is much higher than found at most natural history museums including the Royal Tyrrell Museum. In our cabinets 95% of our fossils are real, that is exceptional.

We are not the Royal Tyrrell Museum, we are a private dinosaur museum with a hands on activity centre for kids. Here kids can do a number of things including dig up a dinosaur skeleton and find 30 or more authentic fossils each. Where else in Drumheller can kids legally find real fossils, get information about what they are finding and legally take home a real fossil they found? Glad you liked the dinosaur. Did you notice our trilobite collection? Here you will find more than 75 world class specimens.

“Good times for a younger family.”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

If you are visiting Drumheller, you are probably here for the dinosaurs. And if you are here for the dinosaurs, you probably have kids. If you have kids, you know they need to keep busy. That is where Fossil World comes in. Although it doesn't have 1/10 of the fossils that the Tyrell Museum does, it has a climbing wall, a cool playground, a fossil dig, and a "gem" panning activity that allows the kids to burn some energy, run around, and be hands on. It's a little pricey, but still gives decent value for your money.
