“Beyond a waste of money, it was simply sad.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2011

Stay away. Period.

The only bright spot was the staff at the lion feeding, she was informative and energetic and seemed genuinely interested in her job.

The animals, when you could see them, were rather shabby and sad looking.

Most of the animals were kinds you would either expect to see at any farm or on the side of the highway while driving through most of canada (Moose, elk, caribou, deer, goats, chickens, rabbits, coyotes, foxes, etc.). The more exotic animals (Jaguars/lions/tigers) were rather lackluster, or were simply hiding. This was more of a petting zoo without the petting than an actual zoo.

The cages were small and generally overgrown, the white wolf looked more like a sad dog, the eagle (if it still has the capability) did not have the room to fly...a walking eagle is a pretty sad site.

The staff were non-existent, except for the person doing the lion feeding.

The entry was 22.50/pp, which given the shabby state of everything seems incredibly high.

I would not return, no would I recommend it to anyone, even if they had nothing better to do.

“Stay Away”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2011

It was a disappointing and sad!!
I can't understand how they can keep their animals in such poor conditions.
This place should close and have the animals relocated to places where they can be taken care of.
Please don't go.

“Natural settings for the animals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2011

Nice regional zoo with large, natural enclosures for the animals. Many of the animals were very close and easy to view. For eexample, I was looking for the cheetah but could not see him (or her) when I noticed this REALLY loud purring. There he (or she :) ) was about 3 feet from me laying along the fence! The lemurs were only about 4 feet away and the only enclosure was the water! Might be a bit pricey though for a large family so check the website to see if you want to spend that amount of money.

“Many improvements made from years back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2011

I remember going to the zoo years ago when I was in high school and I found it very cramped and there were not that many animals. When my friend and I recently went we were both very pleasantly surprised! There were lots of new animals (including a cheetah) and the animals did not seem cramped close together. The food still is not very good and they overcharge you, but the zoo itself was lovely.

“a long drive for not very much”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2011

We had some time to kill so we visited the Vancouver zoo. What a disappointing. display. There were very few animals out to see.We could not get any tickets for the train until 5pm even as it was running 1/4 empty?
The food service was something I expected in the backwoods not in a city.. Dirty, broken and rusty chairs and tables, very expensive , fly's all over the place. I guess the health inspector has not been out there in a while!
A very disappointing afternoon for such a long drive.
