Got on the trails a little late this year, as the Sun Run is only four weeks away! Surprised to see snow here and there, but then it's been a cold winter - and indeed still winter as I write this. However, other than a some leftover snow in the shady spots, most everything open for business. While the pitch-n-putt looked closed, lots of action at the duck pond near the tai chi/horseshoe pitch area, people picnicking and using the playground next to the lower pond where the remote controlled boats often appear. And, most important of all, the trails are even better marked than they were last year. Kudos to Burnaby Park staff - love your Central Park!

Lovely walking trails amongst impressive trees and foliage. Very popular walking area forlocals. There is a pitch and putt golf course and many picnic tables. Located next to Swanguard Stadium.

Nestled in a bustling city, Central Park is a great place to escape for a few hours. I enjoy walking and riding my bicycle through the park. Easy access from Vancouver and Burnaby and plenty of free parking.

If you want an experience that completely regenerates your soul, take your bike up to Central Park and take an hour or two to ride all of the trails.
There are trees in here that will take your breath away with their majesty and they're all within touching distance of the bike routes. You can't get lost but you can feel like you're lost by taking random turns along the network of hard pan tracks throughout the park.
There are a couple of lakes,one in the middle and one at the south end and there are big open green spaces for picnics and games.
When I think about it the only other places that can compare in the local area are Stanley Park and UBC. Deer Lake and Burnaby Lake are beautiful in their own way but they don't have the gigantic trees.
In the summer you can make it even better by visiting the open air swimming pool
you don't have to fight traffic and parking is easy... get out and eat it up!

I do enjoy disappearing into the forest in the middle of the city. However, it's not all wilderness with exercise stations throughout the park, directional signage, two small ponds, fields, picnic areas, etc. It's a great opportunity to escape and unwind. Go during the day, not at night as there are no lights. There are different areas for parking off different streets - all free! My husband and son walked on the trails for about 30 minutes enjoying counting the squirrels and the fresh air.
