Definitely worth a visit, to see Vancouver from a different perspective. Save up in advance a little by eating excellent sushi in Burnaby, so that you can afford a meal at Horizons in the part - well worth it!

This park has a beautiful view on the city of Vancouver. If the weather is open, you can see even Vancouver Island and Mount Washington. Nice rose garden and lovely playgrounds for the kids.

We come here several times a year as the view constantly changes with the seasons. You can see all the way to Stanley Park in one direction or into Deep Cove in another. When we take visitors here they are always delighted to "discover" this expansive park as it's not as well known. We hike up the section of TransCanada Trail sometimes. When the snow falls on Burnaby Mountain it's a great spot for sledding. When we're celebrating a special event we'll sometimes have a meal at Horizons Restaurant in the park.

Burnaby is a city which belongs to the Greater Vancouver area and is about 10-15 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Burnaby Mountain is one of the beautiful places to visit in Burnaby and is located near the Simon Fraser University. The views over the mountains, the Burrard Inlet, downtown Vancouver and Indian arm from up here make it such a great place. This is a fairly popular destination for visitors and locals alike. The green hillside offers room to throw a frisbee or send a kite soaring. There is a network of trails which offer a variety of hiking, walking and jogging options. There is also a playground tucked away in the upper hillside and there is a newer playground near the acclaimed Horizons restaurant.

Near the restaurant area there is a Rose Garden, with its vibrant colours in season and a great variety of roses. There are picnic tables spread throughout the park for those wanting to spend more time here. Towering over the distant city are the tall Kamui Mintara (Playground of the Gods) sculptures. The Kamui Mintara is more than a dozen carved poles created by Japanese sculptors Nuburi Toko and his son, Shusei. These impressive sculptures commemorate the goodwill between Burnaby and its sister city, Kushiro, Japan.

Burnaby Mountain is a great place to enjoy in any season as there are always the beautiful views over the city, the mountains, the Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm (a coastal fjord of about 18km/11.25mi long).
