We visited for lunch having heard an enthusiastic review on CBC Radio's EARLY EDITION 11/01/06. The quality of food rivals Horizons and is close to that of Hart House. My partner had the daily special, halibut and chips. The yam fries were $3 extra but hand cut and perfectly cooked. There was a selection of dips including the chef's preserved lemon based dip. My chowder was first rate. The server brought the bowl with the steaming seafood to the table and poured the broth over at my place setting. My spinach salad was rich and fresh with grilled salmon done perfectly. Presentation was excellent. EBO's wine list is modest but I was able to have two glasses of reasonably priced B.C. VQA wine. My partner's latte was rich and full bodied. Because we showed an interest in the restaurant the pastry chef surprised us with the gift of a spectacular dessert plate with at least five selections. The topping for one creation was balls of peanut butter ice cream dipped in chocolate powder. EBO was quiet during our visit and very spacious. There is an attractive private room for fourteen. Lunch minimum for 14 is $100 and for dinner $300. Free parking in the casino lot.
