We recently stayed at this charming little hotel located right on the ocean in Campbell River. The hotel is decorated with a european charm and very cosy. The rooms are small but adequate and we had a lovely view of the ocean from our balcony. Breakfast is european continental with cereal, eggs, toast, fruit, all available in a small, family-style dining room. It is a help yourself affair and you feel right at home! The general manager is terrifically friendly and the hotel is clean and up-to-date. Could use more than one tiny bar of soap in the bathroom though!! :D A very nice stay and we would return again.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view - it doesn’t have to be ocean front and the view is just as good from the side.

The exterior looks dated, but the room was renovated. Lots of dollies available and an elevator from the parkade. All linens were clean, including the duvet cover. Room had laminate floors; very hygienic... so I had no problems with my allergies. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only drawback was waking up at 6:50am to the garbage truck emptying the dumpster directly outside of room (#105) - of course, this is not the fault of the hotel, but perhaps if this could be a problem for you, ask for a room on the other side of the building. The hotel is directly across a (busy) street from the beach---which is a rocky beach. The shower pressure was sufficient, even for my thick long hair; and it was hot enough. Continental breakfast was adequate; you have the option of cooking eggs but it's do-it-yourself.

Room Tip: On a weekday avoid room 105 near the dumpster, unless you want to wake up at 6:50am to a noisy garba...

Thank you for your recent review. We appreciate all feedback.
It helps us to create a wonderful guest experience.
I apologize for the noisy garbage truck next door.
I asked the general manager next door if there was any way they could get them to pick up a little later. She was going to look into it.

My wife and I stayed at Heron's Landing for four nights in March 2014- our first getaway without the kids for a very long time, so we were looking forward to it.

As far as hotels go it's relatively basic- there's no pool, bar or restaurant, but the first wasn't really a concern for us and there are other amenities nearby. There again, it's an independent hotel (I think) and not part of a huge chain. Car parking is secure- below the hotel and accessed using the room key- which is reassuring. There are laundry facilities just off the parking area with vending machines selling snacks and cold drinks. Breakfast is laid out in the Grizzly Room on the ground floor and is a Continental style breakfast.

The desk does not appear- at least not at the time of our stay- to be manned 24 hours, so it might be an idea to let them know well in advance if you are booking in late to make
appropriate arrangements. That said, the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful when we talked to them.

The hotel is tastefully furnished with old/antique furniture in the public areas.

Our room was very comfortable- the firm king-size bed meant I had the best night's sleep in ages. The room had a large flat-screen television and free internet access and local calls- which was handy.

I was particularly impressed by their environmental policy. Soap, shampoo and conditioner didn't come in wasteful, tiny plastic bottles, but were instead in a dispenser in the shower/bath area. I think this is a great idea that must cut down on a huge amount of waste- and also means that guests are less likely to run out while having a shower.

Our balcony did not look out directly over the coast, but we could see it from there and that was actually the highlight because of the variety of wildlife we spotted. Within minutes of arriving we saw a pod of about five killer whales surfacing and were able to watch them as they travelled south. We also saw several eagles perched in a tree behind the hotel, as well as deer walking along the nearby ridge and cormorants and herons on the shore.

The hotel is located about five minutes' drive from the centre of town- although turning left onto the main road can be a little tricky- and is handy for all the local sights and amenities.

I had a very pleasant stay here and would happily return. The rates aren't bad at all, the hotel is kept clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Room Tip: Definitely worth booking a room with a view across Discovery Passage to Quadra Island.

Wow, thank you so much for your wonderful review!
We are passionate when it comes to creating a positive guest experience.
Our front desk closes at 9:00 p.m., but we have a caretaker who lives on site, to answer
in house guest calls until the front desk reopens at 7:00 a.m.
If a guest does not arrive before the front desk closes at 9:00, we leave a sign on the front door of the hotel instructing them to ring the buzzer and then the caretaker tells them which room number they are in.
Again, thank you for staying with us!

Kind regards,
Janet Johnson

Here is a list of why we liked it and why we will be coming back next time we are up around Campbell River: comfortable beds, nice big clean room with kitchen, clean carpets, great view of the water with boats and wildlife (eagles, sea lions, birds), big balcony, excellent continental breakfast where you can make your own omelet, friendly staff, free internet, paintings, benches in the hallway, secured parking lot, nice ocean front walkway, etc.
The dislikes are: noisy road traffic and small television, but who needs a TV with this view?

Room Tip: Ask for your room with a view to be at the back of the hotel (not by one of the elevator) if you wou...

We were at the hotel for two nights in December 2013. We had a suite on the second floor and found it very clean and comfortable. It was great having a separate bedroom, a full kitchen and a comfortable couch. The location is across the road from the water and the views were lovely. The main road can be busy and there was some traffic noise but nothing that anyone who lives in a city would find overwhelming. The beds were comfortable and the deck a great place for an evening beverage. There aren't any restaurants or amenities really within walking distance but the city is a mere 3 minute drive away. Staff were very pleasant and willing to answer questions. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly large and the coffee was very good, a true testament to quality.

In august 2013 three of us spent a wonderful week in a one bedroom spacious suite. We had a veranda overlooking Cape Mudge lighthouse on the Strait of Georgia, which was a real joy. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, Wi Fi access etc. The breakfast was marvellous, plentiful, with good variety and a great start to the day. The hotel was professionally managed with a wonderful friendly team, who were always available to assist us during our very relaxing stay.
