Please note that Dolphins is also called Angler's. These reviews should really be combined. It would have a much higher ranking.

Campbell River is not exactly a hot bed for fine restaurants. We have always complained about the restaurant selection in this town and have always struggled to find a local place to go to celebrate an occasion, or simply have a great night out of fine dining. Usually we end up heading south to Courtenay or even Nanaimo.

Then a co-worker told me to try Angler's at Dolphin's Resort. Well we finally did, and it was everything that we have been looking for.

Quaint and rustic ambiance with limited seating. Great service, and most importantly... great food!

I had the lamb with the cajun sea scallops appy. My wife had the duck and the seafood chowder appy. Everything was wonderful. I can't honestly complain about anything. If there was anything that I could pick on, it would be that the cheescake we had for desert was only OK.

If you are desperately trying to find a nice place to dine in Campbell River for that special occasion, or just to have a very high quality meal... then this is the place.

We will be back on a regular basis

My dinner party of 6 arrived for dinner towards the end of the first seating (an hour or so after opening). While the waiter was prompt and very efficient, the wait for food was a little long. All of the other tables had their orders in and our was at the back of the line. The 2 chefs in the kitchen were working hard but they can only cook so fast. We had no other appointments so the wait did not cause any probems, just a rumbling stomach. When the food did arrive, there were a few issues. Three of us had ordered the pasta dish that was on special. 2 of them were identical and as described on the menu. The third was somewhat different. I suspect they ran out of the special, and substituted something else. The pasta was supposed to be a pappardelle, and 2 of them were. The third was linguine, much runnier sauce with slightly different ingredients. Perhaps they could have asked if a substitution could be made? The fish that was ordered by another friend was very well done and had to be sent back. It was replaced with a proberly cooked and tender fish filet (I don't recall the type). Aside from these small issues, the food was enjoyable and the waiter was fantastic. If you make a reservation, try to get in early or be prepared to wait a little while and order an appetizer! Also, bring a sweater as the dining room can get quite cool if you are sitting next to the windows.
