“Excellent Campground!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

We just returned home after staying 4 days at Castlegar RV Park, Cabins and Campground. The park is beautiful, the washrooms are spotless and the wi-fi is excellent. The person who said the wi-fi was inoperative must not have had the password for it . If they had chosen to stay they would have seen that it works great and is fast! We also had water, sewer, power and a couple of tv channels included. There is an awesome trail up the back of the park, which takes you to an excellent birds eye veiw of the city. It is less then a 5 min drive to town. The park owners were very friendly. We look forward to staying there again and would recommend this campground.

We did not stay here so you have to take this into account but we looked around with the intention of staying but elected not to. Tired would be the best description I could come up with. The WiFi was inoperative when we were looking around. The sites that we looked at were not brilliant and the sewer hookup was sometimes not ideally placed for our vehicle.

Having read the reviews that gave this establishment a 5 I would have to say that they either know the proprietor or have very low expectations.

The proprietor was very friendly and did his best to be of assistance but you can't overlook the property itself.

Thanks to Trip Advisor for providing an outstanding service and forum.
Reading and sharing our experiences with others is invaluable.

Traveling for the past 6 plus years has had it's share of fun and adventures in visiting and staying in the the many and varied RV parks around beautiful British Columbia.
It's been nothing short of fantastic.
Rarely feeling the need to write or add to the reviews on Trip Advisor, it is compulsion
(and disgust) that provokes this report.

The intention in writing this review is not to cause damage but rather to reveal injustice (s).
While proprietors of Castlegar Rv/Campground, Liz and Dale appeared to be friendly hosts initially, after spending the better part of a month at their establishment, the veneer of kind and hospitable quickly faded revealing a sort of bargain basement, junkyard mentality, with a generous dash of callous.
There was gossiping and back stabbing galore of visitors in their park and serious bad mouthing of other local RV/Camp grounds.
Inquiries into Castlegar RV Park with locals started revealing one awful experience after another...
So, check your credit card statement - even if you decide not to go there.
If you have pets, expect to pay extra and be harrassed about them.
And when they come around on their golf cart, it's not to 'share the happiness'

One ( of the many ) big complaints was the washrooms.
One woman, (who promptly left ) was convinced there were camera's in the ladies washroom.
As for the men's, well you could say hello over the plywood wall or you could jam yourself into the more 'private' one, as long as you didn't put your head forward,, as one would do to read-
Not to mention the make-shift showers and general shabbiness of the facilities.
It just seemed to get worse day after day.
The suggestion to rig the grey water to pour into the creek -after admitting that is their habit- was the final straw.
BC Fisheries were notified and so happily moved on to the glorious, peaceful Castlegar Golf Course RV Park.
What a beautiful place.
Complete with easy going, kind and unobtrusive managers. Delightfully clean and up to date, the place is a haven we will be happy to refer and also to come back to.

Regards, Mr. Smith

RE:POSTING FROM LAST YEAR, simply because it's 'still' the best campsite we've yet to find, let alone around Castlegar area :-).

My husband and I and our 3 dogs recently drove up from Oregon, USA to camp at a WONDERFUL RV park in Castlegar, British Columbia. Never have we stayed at a place that is well known for how clean, tidy, FRIENDLY and hospitable.......especially the restroom/washrooms/showers!!!!!!!. We HIGHLY recommend this place whether you're simply pass'n through with your 'rig', or you're looking for somewhere to pitch a tent and stay awhile. This is the 1st campsite we've ever come across that is not only DOG FRIENDLY, but they actually have an "OFF LEASH DOG RUN!!!!!" So, for all you fellow dog lovers out there, GIVE CASTLEGAR RV AND CAMPSITE (OWNERS DALE AND LIZ) A TRY :-).

BLESSINGS ON YOU.......

I was pleasantly surprised by the warm and quiet atmosphere.Proprietors Dale and Liz were so much fun to be around, always smiling and laughing.I could not believe my eyes when I opened my Park model,it was like staying in a five star hotel.Whenever I needed anything Liz and Dale were always there to help! I cannot say enough good things about being a guest at this lovely little park.Tell all your friends,I did!

My husband and I just spent a wonderful Labour Day weekend at the park in one of the park models called the Richmond. It was like staying in an upscale hotel room with all the amenities. Very clean. The owners were always accommodating and helpful with any questions we had. They are very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and tourist sites. I would recommend this park to any traveler for either short or long term stays.

Don't come here at all! I don't recommend this to anyone. We were there for 8 days. The second to last day we woke up to dead mouse in the toilet but it was cleaned up fast. Later we found mouse droppings in our food, under the garbage can, in the vents, in closets, and the cupboards. This was also cleaned up but alot was missed. Later that night we could hear them crawling across the floor. The grounds keeper (Liz) then tried telling us we probaley brought the mice on our clothing and food. This cannot possibly happen as we have been in suitcases for months. Now because we left early than the time we were suppose to leave they are still charging our company for the four days we are not going to stay. I will say the location is nice but that is not good enough for all the other issues.
