“Nice walk.”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

It's a nice level, paved walk you can do with a dog or by yourself. The path runs along the river for a bit and you will probably see seals and eagles. You may also see Trumpeter Swans in the river or ocean. There is a large wintering population. You can extend the walk by going off the pavement at the far end and the path takes you through the woods and is really lovely. You'll come across a fish bearing stream and then come out to the ocean where you can stop and rest for a bit. Then take the stroll back to your car.

“Great walk!”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

We love going here with our 3 year old grandson. Perfect for riding balance bikes, scooter, roller blades or strollers. You can watch planes land and take off as well as the birds in the sanctuary. We also like to stop at the little cafe at the south end and have coffee or a meal. Great home cooking and baking for very reasonable prices.

“Easy walk on the Puntledge River and Estuary.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

The walkway is about 1 mile in circumference. The walkway is mostly level and paved so it is very nice for those with mobility issues. There are benches along the way if a person wishes to have a rest or admire the views. There are always lots of water birds to see and the middle of the air park houses a small airport and sometimes there is air traffic to make your visit more interesting. All the plants and shrubs along the way are native and most have identifying signs. There is a small coffee shop at one end of the walkway and good parking on the south side where the paved walkway continues southward for a long way. I walk this park several times a year and it is always different and interesting.

“Well worth the visit!”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

We came to look around and get a nice walk in while visiting Courtenay. Great spot for exercise. Locals quite friendly, and stopped to chat and suggest other places to visit as soon as they realized we were "tourists".
The scenery and wildlife viewing made the walk enjoyable.

“Time well spent”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

If your are a nature lover then stroll down the paved path along the river and spot all kinds of birds. Eagles, water fowl the occasional Blue Heron. You can also spot seals surfacing in the river. If you like planes then look on the other side of the path and you are beside the runway for Courtenay Air Park. This is great for watching small aircraft taking off and landing. You are very close to the action.
