This is one of our favourite walks. You walk around the tidal flats and estuary, looking back to Comox. You may see some good sized salmon in the clear water. If you go far enough you get to walk in some forest - lots of birds and blackberries when in season. The walkway has good information stations and many of the plants have identification labels. Many people walk this path so get used to saying “hello” or “beautiful day”!!

This is a lovely place to walk around. You have nice views of the river and estuary. If you are interested in birdwatching there is plenty to see. Most times there are bald eagles about. We went there several times.

Either biking, walking, running or renting kayaks this is the place. You can start the walk at either end but I like starting by the airport. You can watch small aircraft take off and land. The paths are paved and well used. Round walk is about 5 km all easy and flat.sometimes we time the walk to be back at the little old fashioned diner owned by Donna that sits on the harbour. Great homemade soups, grilled cheese and other favourites always with a daily special and she is a great lady!
You will walk along the ocean then through a small forest with salmon streams and finally arriving at the ocean where several benches are set up. If you have small kids you may make it only to the kids play area set up by the local Rotary club.

This walk is an easy one as it is quite level. You can choose to take the basic loop or extend your walk further,. It is an interesting combination of water views, condos and airplanes. Along the route you can spot birds and various plants. There are some platforms for viewing. I enjoyed the planes taking off from the airport. They are small and some after take off fly pretty low overhead. I found that surprising and fun.

Nice little area to walk. My kids enjoyed seeing the planes, eating blackberries, and the wild rabbits in the area. Was pleasant.

I often take my two girls 4 and 6 years old down to the airpark. We bike, play at the playpark, watch herons and read bout the historic fish traps. It is a great way to spend a day or even just a few hours.

The River with Kayaks, Paddle Boarders, Small marina, Great Cafe, Beautiful Walk along the Airpark Walkway and Estuary. The kids mostly love the small airplanes and can't stop asking questions about the little planes as it is so rare to actually have a green space such as an Airpark and Estuary all in one place. Most people we know love this spot. The harmony of nature, boats, kayaks, birds, seals, float planes and wheel planes all in one spot to watch and keep the kids entertained ...... a little Disneyland in the centre or Courtenay. Wow.....amazing place. My disclaimer is i am a member of the Airpark but i just can't stop loving this whole area the Airpark is only one part or it.

Took a friend round the airpark walk to experience this unique environment. Something for everyone here - seals in the river, kayakers on the water, airplanes on the runway and float planes too. Beautiful views of the estuary, great places to sit, sip coffee, get breakfast and lots more.

A neat little friendly cafe on the River walk, which surrounds the air park estuary. It's small and super casual. Decor is limited to a variety of interesting toy planes suspended from the ceiling. One orders at the counter from a blackboard menu. Service is quick. I ordered a Chicken club sandwich on a Focaccia bun. It was loaded with tomatoes, bacon, cheese and grilled chicken. Served on a heated plate plus knife and fork provided, as the sandwich was big and boy! Was it tasty! A cinnamon bun to go completed my order. It was packed with raisins and cinnamon spice. This is a good place to sit and relax, have a bite to eat after walking. Fresh water is provided. Breakfast is also served. Worth a try and I'll return.
