We purchased a Travelzoo coupon for a weekend in a king jacuzzi suite, it was spectacular! View of the golf course, huge room, beautifully done, attention to details. A wonderful weekend. Close to Costco and other shopping, About 10 minutes drive to old downtown, which is a must see. Very quiet room, 8 rooms to a separate block unit.

I stayed at a the villa and found that my Villa was nice but not very sound proof i could hear everthing from next door and the only other thing i missed was either a pool or a hot tub after a day of work.

Stayed here once on a golf trip and have played the course many times over the years. The Villas are decent and relatively clean, but by no means deluxe. The best thing they have going for them are location right on or near the course. Golf course was in very rough shape when played a few days ago with many hard and bare patches on fairways and greens were average at best. The course is surrounding by houses, condos and villas so it is kind of like playing golf in the middle of downtown in a city. Rates were high at over $100 per player with cart considering the shape of the course. Also, no twilight rate until after 3. Similarly, no break on replay rates when I played here in a tournament approximately three years ago. Food and restaurant are also extremely expensive with prices much higher for similar items than in Victoria and Vancouver. This resort is geared toward the many oil rich Calgarians and Albertans who come to the area and they price things with that in mind. I have played virtually every course on Vancouver Island and many great tracks in resort areas in other Provinces, the US, Hawaii, Mexico and this place is one of the most overrated tracks I have played. Storey Creek just up the road in Campbell River is much, much better at at least $30 less per player. Similarly, Morning Star about 45 minutes south is also vastly superior at much lower cost. Hopefully our tourney takes this one off the rota next year.

Dear Morninwood,

Thank you for your post. I agree with you that our course has some brown areas. This is largely due to long summer days, combined with the absence of rain for the 3 months leading up to your visit. We focus our maintenance and irrigation more on the areas that mostly come into play such as the tees, fairways and greens. These areas are in excellent condition.

Regarding the course being surrounded by houses, condos and villas, likening it to playing golf in the middle of downtown in a city, these are the same homes you saw 3 years ago the last time you visited us. Although we do have accommodations and fairway homes (and most courses do), our course still has a spacious feel with many trees, lakes, waterfowl and deer. We have also been an Audubon International certified course for the last 3 years, focusing on Water Management as well as Wildlife and Habitat Management.

Due to recent economic conditions, our green fees have remained the same since your last visit to Crown isle three years ago and will remain the same for 2013.

With regards to our restaurant prices, we offer a great dining experience at a reasonable price. Our menu pricing is very competitive with similar restaurants on the Island.

We are proud of what we have to offer at Crown Isle. Our value to experience ratio is second to none!

Thanks once again for your post. We hope to see you soon.

My husband and I booked a pet friendly room as we were traveling with our Cocker Spaniel. We were horrified when we checked into Villa 701 to find that the carpet in the living room had not been cleaned and there were at least 5 urine stains. The bedroom wreaked of urine. We were paying $200 a night along with a $25 pet cleaning charge. They were obviously not applying the previous pet cleaning charges to cleaning this villa. Furthermore there was a good level of dust on some of the furniture and it was really apparent that attention to detail has been ignored. We were moved to Villa 704 which was better with only one urine stain. However the kitchen faucet leaked badly and the icing on the cake was that there was no wireless available in our building. Apparently some buildings have it but "they haven't reached our building yet", a fact we would have liked to have known upon booking. I will say Carol at the front desk was very empathetic and as helpful as she could be under the circumstances. The bottom line seems to be that these villas at the Crown Isle seem to be tired and lacking attention to detail which is a shame as the property is lovely.

Thank you for your comments. As a pet friendly facility we do strive to ensure the rooms we offer to travelers with pets as well as all other guests visiting our Resort, are clean and maintained to the highest standards. Your input will be reviewed with our management team to ensure our ongoing room cleaning and inspection processes address the kinds of issues you identified. With our unique villa locations, being along the golf course fairway and staggered in a forested area, wireless service in all our units is a challenge we are in the process of completing.
Again, we appreciate your comments and trust you will visit us again.

Not a room but a fully equipped appartment! Beautiful kitchen, gorgious decore, well appointed and spacious. Deck overlooks the golf course, very, very nice. Restaurants on site are very good, good food, great service, and well priced. No need to eat elsewhere!
Golf course was well maintained and challenging. Our kids were made to feel welcome.
Some odd check-in issues. The front desk staff need better training. They billed our entire 3 day stay onto our credit card upon arrival, not just the usual deposit some hotels do.
A bit suprising to be asked to sign an 800 dollar credit card slip before you even see the room! When I questioned this they were not as polite as they should have been explaining this out of the ordinary procedure.
Other than that the stay was very pleasant. Nice grounds to walk, good golf, open air cafe and restaurant.
Would definately stay again.

Resort is located in a very scenic area. Golf course and facilities are excellent. Service was excellent. Food was reasonably priced and the selection and qulaity was good.
This was a repeat trip forn our foresome because we enjoyed the previous experience.
I would have no difficulty recommending this resort to others.

Room Tip: Bedrooms away from highway are easier to sleep with open window

A special offer from Travelzoo brought us back here, to a balconied suite with two fireplaces. The king-sized bed was superb and the amenities excellent. One fireplace didn't work, however, until Maintenance was summoned, and the shower controls were exactly backwards, so hot meant cold and vice-versa. The room clerk assured us ours was a ground-floor unit; it wasn't. His lack of product knowledge bespeaks either poor motivation or poor training, take your pick.

Staff members were generally friendly and efficient, particularly if you enjoy being hailed as "you guys" by your breakfast server.

Overall, an outstanding property which could benefit from more attentive management.

Room Tip: The closer your building is to the clubhouse, the better the view of the golf course. Otherwise, it...

Thank you for your review, it’s important that we hear feedback from our guests regarding their stay at Crown Isle. Our gas fireplaces are meant to be operational year round, however, on occasion the pilot light gets extinguished. We have reviewed our current room inspection process to ensure we identify if a pilot light needs to be ignited and that the graphical representation on the single control shower tap is correct. Again, we do appreciate your comments.
