Description: Ocean7 Restaurant and AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar located at Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa is newly renovated and re-opens in early March 2017. The new AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar features creative casual shared plates paired with fine wines and signature cocktails, while Ocean 7 Restaurant will focus on West Coast seafood, grain fed meats and fresh organic produce from local sustainable growers and suppliers. The culinary experience will be unparalleled with unique creations from our Executive Chef Nyle Petherbridge, an accomplished Red Seal chef who created menus for some of most successful well known establishments in British Columbia. Your senses will be awakened enjoying tantalizing food for the palate while gazing out to the vast ocean views which was the main focus in the design process. Spectacular panoramic waterscape views welcome you as you enter the main entrance for the two restaurants. Design elements make use of French provincial flair and modern West Coast accents featuring beautiful wine displays, soft woods, stone and antique tile finishes. Centralized in the AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar is an inviting New York style bar with rich marble countertops sourced from Vancouver Island’s top quarries. On beautiful sunny days, two large garage doors will open up to the patio enticing you to sit outside and bask in the warm sun with breathtaking views of the ocean and the beloved lush Kingfisher gardens. The new oversized outdoor fire pit will be a romantic spot to cozy up to watch the spectacular wildlife and sunsets. The adjoining space, Ocean 7 Restaurant, maintains a fine dining atmosphere with view tables and cozy booths, stair stepped to allow amazing vistas for all. The Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa, not only a destination Spa Resort, but a destination for a top culinary tasting experience!

The Spa was wonderful, although, the massage was not the best. Loved the River Walk. The restaurant was pricey, and the steak was way, way too small for $30! It was tasty, but we left hungry. The picture here, shows the steak much bigger than what we were served. :(

This is a place that has an excellent setting. It sits right on the oceanfront. The food offerings are well prepared, but be prepared yourself to pay for it. We think the seafood is their strong suit.

You have to go the Breakwater Restaurant at Kingfisher Resort and Spa for the view because the food experience wasn't in keeping with expectations! The lunch menu is limited and definately not the place to take a non fish lover. We were limited to 2 salads, 1 entree and 3 sandwich choices.
For $14.00 I expected more than a toasted ciabatta bun with a single lettuce leaf, two paper thin rounds of tomato, a fourth of a dill pickle and a small ball of beef topped with fried onions in the middle of a puddle of red sauce. The chips were right out of the freezer and that was it! Completely underwhelming!
The dessert menu continued in the same theme, a meagre choice and although the 'Sea Escape' my husband ordered was tasty it arrived with a gaping hole in the chocolate ganache which the waiter claimed he did with a knife while plating it. When the waiter was asked for a spoon to eat the ice cream on the plate my husband was told to use the salad fork on the table.....'nuff said' I think!
Generally I found the room a few degrees too cool, the music a few turns too loud and the wait staff in a dirty shirt. When the bill was presented it came in a portfolio that still had the previous bill and money in it.....what the heck!
Frankly I still have an $80.00 gift card for this place and it's going to be hard to force myself to use it. A sad commentary when you don't even want to go for free....

This is one of our favorite places to go for our "Girls Lunch". Although the prices are just that ... pricey, we still love the views of the Strait and the beautiful atmosphere. The spinach salad is one of my faves, and paired with one of their crisp local wines, I'm a happy birthday girl!

The food at the Kingfisher is great and very affordable. The view of the ocean while you dine is a treat. I have enjoyed the spa as well. Since I live in Courtenay, I have never stayed overnight there.
