“Great weekend getaway”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

Went to St.Eugene's twice this summer. The building is an older native school that has been renovated as a hotel. It is very grand looking from the front and has a sandstone appearance and beautifull landscaping. The flowers are lovely and the grounds are well maintained even from the back view where the golf course is, We stayed in the newer addition the first time and had a separate balcony with a view of the front grounds, It was nice to see the older building lit up at night. Ihe second time we stayed in the deluxe rooms in the older building with a view of the gold course. We ate at the 19th hole a few times. They have the same breakfast buffet on weekends in the Purcell Grill which is their dining room in the main building, The food was good in the Purcell Grill. If you get a table with a view of the golf course and pool. It is very relaxing to sit there, The casino also has a good cafe restaurant but is dark inside compared to the other restaurants. There is also a lounge in the main building with English food and a free pool table to use. We did 9 holes of golf and got a great deal after 5 pm which included a cart. saw some deer on the 8th hole. Also some big eared bats flying out of the belfry. They are dedicated to keeping them conserved as they are an endagered species, Look at the interpetive centre to get a sense of the history and hardship the native children who went there had to endure.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thanks for the review! It's great to hear that you had the opportunity to try each of our restaurants and share your thoughts with other travellers. It's also nice to hear that you saw the bats in our Belfry. We take pride in conserving the endangered Townsend Big Eared Bats as they are an interesting species found only in BC.

See you on your next weekend getaway to St. Eugene!

The hotel we had stayed before, and was very good like last time. The staff there was very in tuned to your request and excited to help, and guide us, we will be going back again, didn't play golf this time but will next.

Room Tip: The dinner there was fabulous, everything was done well.

Attended wedding at hotel. Ceremony was lovely, set up on front lawn. Reception tent was very nice, lots of room for approx 180 guests. Room was clean and bright. Staff throughout hotel and casino were very friendly. Buffet breakfast didn't offer enough of a selection although it was tastey. Bar food was very good, large portions. Only complaint, that the doors to both the hallways and rooms are loud when they slam shut, as they did dozens of times during the night, some soft closures may remedy this problem.
Overall, very happy with my stay. Will use hotel again next time I'm in the area.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the elevator and hall entrance doors.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your comments and I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the wedding ceremony & reception in the Pavilion. We have taken your feedback to our maintenance team and are reviewing the options to soften the noise caused by doors, to ensure our guests aren’t disturbed during the night. Providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere is a top priority so thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Stayed here for one night on business. Very impressed with the property and the building. Lots of charm and character.

Staff was friendly, and check in was quick.

Room was modernized, but still felt 'motelish', although the beds were super comfortable. Apart from the carpets being stained and in need of a little TLC, the room was clean. Important to note that I stayed in the lodge are in room 2225, and not the main building.

Very big negative was the shower pressure. It was essentially non existent, and felt like I was showering in a light rain shower. Something seriously needs to be done here.

I also ate dinner in the bar restaurant. Food was good, and service was excellent.

Definitely a great hotel choice, and to would be fantastic with some small improvements.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our property. We’re prioritising carpet cleaning and replacement after reading the recent comments from reviewers on TripAdvisor. We appreciate that you provided your room number and I personally notified our maintenance department to test the shower pressure in room 2225. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of water pressure and hope you notice the improvements during your next stay.

What a hidden gem. The rooms are beautiful (best air conditioners ever). The Restaurant is amazing, but pricey. The food in the bar however is just as great and very reasonably priced. I was so happy that this hotel was recommended to us.

Just spend 3 nights here as a family of 4 adults. The food was creative, un-believably delicious, fresh and very very nicely served. The portions are too big so be sure to bring some exercise clothes. There's a great heated outdoor pool and two hot tubs. I loved the place. Service is terrific - friendly yet professional. The staff smile genuinely and say "hello!" The rooms are clean and well-supplied. And the golf course is amazing .... every hole offers a nice challenge in one way or another, narrowing fairways, hole placement or a lovely bunker capturing even the most confident of drives. The scenery is indescribable on the course - just walk the cart path if you don't golf - from the views to the sound of the river you will be enchanted and yes you may stop for a snack with the golfers. Go ... we've travelled quite a bit internationally, in the Caribbean and in North American. This is success story for the region - I will let you discover those details . We will return to St Eugene's from central Ontario and yes we will come back.

Room Tip: I'm sure they are all just fine ....
