“Soaring in silence”

Fantastic instructor and great website. The best activity you could do in the Rocky mountains.

I contacted Peter by email and always got a quick reply despite having to change the date several times. When I spoke to him on the phone he checked the weather forecast to find the best day and time for flying, something he didn't need to do. He wanted to maximise the amount of time we were in the air by checking the conditions. The directions to the meet site on the website are brilliant and you can't go wrong.

On the day I drove 3 hours to paraglide and it was definitely worth the journey. Peter is very relaxed and the drive to the launch site takes around 30 - 45 minutes all uphill on a gravel road. Once at the top there are stunning views of Golden and Mount 7 behind you. Peter gives clear instructions about what is going to happen and what you need to do. Again it's all quite relaxed and although you are about to run towards the edge of the hill and take flight you don't feel worried.

The wind enters the cells at the front of the wing and it inflates, you then run forward and take off. It is very effortless and before you know it you are soaring in the sky. The view from the area is spectacular and as you sit back the view is breath taking. There is a real sense of calm and silence, you feel and hear the power of the wind. The conditions for my flight were good and we were able to travel up to 9,000 ft using the thermals and travel over the ridge of the mountains. Peter explains the equipment he is using along with the visual clues like cloud formations and distance. As we moved away from the ridge of the mountain we glided above the valley. It was incredibly, there were times where we were completely stationary in the sky, looking all around. Peter allowed me to have a go at using the controls and i completed a full turn.

The landing was very smooth and he burnt the photos and video recording which he had taken during the flight onto a disc.

I am not hooked on paragliding and would like to complete a course. I have never tried a parachute jump and always thought it would be something i would want to do. I don't think it could compete with the beauty of gliding in the air. The flight is very safe and Peter is a great instructor

Our adopted daughter, Jules, came to visit from Germany and her final request before going home was to see the beaufiful Columbia Valley from the air. She wanted to go paragliding. We asked for a few recommendations and Pete, from Parapete Tandems was overwhelming the choice.
Jules feedback, "It was like sitting in a tiny chair and floating through the air"!
The flight lasted 20 minutes, could have been up to 10 minutes longer but the winds were too high. Jules loved it and now the whole family wants to try!!!
