We love visiting the wolf centre and I always take visitors there! As a family-run operation you can tell that they treat the wolves like their own family and truly care about the environment for the ones in the wild. This is a great place for both kids and adults, and the gift shop is also great!

Positives: You do get quite close to a number of wolves, beautiful animals that you very rarely will see in the wild. The wolves themselves are domesticated and appear to be well cared for. The tour includes some good educational material about wolves, and overall the facility is geared positively towards wolf welfare.

On the other hand, a couple of notes:

i) this is a not a Wolf Rescue center, these wolves are essentially pets (though with fully appropriate facilities)
ii) the talk we received included an extensive pro-wolf, "government is stupid" narrative which I think vastly over-simplifies the issues involved and would be insulting I am sure to many government ecologists, etc. Worse, the young lady giving the speech, all of 25 or so, also had to throw in some mindless anti "tar sands", and anti "corporate" remarks. Not only completely irrelevant but also potentially insulting to many of the visitors. If you want to make remarks about serious subjects then do it in a substantive way or not at all; our host, whom I suspect has a rather fleeting grasp of the issues related to globalization and the energy industry, should have stuck to talking about wolf diet, pack dynamics etc etc.

I was really glad we stumbled upon this place because it wasn't planned, we just happened to sort of find it. Look it's not a glamorous zoo so for those of you expecting bells and whistles, go somewhere else. What it is, is raw and real, we thought it was just awesome. The staff were extremely friendly and just so passionate about what they do, it was so interesting to hear their stories and learn about wolf conservation, and you can just tell they are doing everything for the wolves and that they really love their job. The wolves were just breathtaking, couldn't take our eyes off them - we even got to hear them howling for their alpha when we walked in, which was freaking AWESOME, and gave us goosebumps! I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.

Don't expect a giant park. The centre is mainly there for the wolves and to give information. There are 2x 4 wolves in the centre. The first pack is accustomed to people since pup and the other pack is almost wild.
