“A Comfortable Stay”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

We stayed for one night on our way to the Coast. The hotel is brand new, staff are eager to please and the rooms are spotless. We had a problem with our toilet and someone came up to fix it within 10 minutes. The beds were comfortable, and it was very quiet - which is always an issue for me. There was a tour group staying on our floor (and they were pretty chatty) but once we closed the door; blissful silence. The property is just off the highway and close to many amenities. Breakfast was decent. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Third floor, facing away from the highway is what I would recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights. This hotel is really new (opened February 2014) so everything still looks brand new and is modern. If it wasn't for a few problems and some poor service we would have given it five stars, and these issues could easily be resolved by management.

The good:
The room we had (a suite) was clean, spacious, decorated beautifully and looked brand new. The bathroom was also spacious, clean and modern.
The room was well equipped, and having a choice of soft and firm pillows is great.
The breakfast area is lovely and has stunning views of the mountains.
The breakfast itself was good (the Danish pastries were amazing!) although they seemed to have supply issues - no bananas at all one day and no individual milk cartons another.

The bad:
The hotel includes breakfast and had cribs/cots but no highchairs! Our 21 month old had to sit on an adult chair each day and couldn't reach the table. We later found out some are on order, but the hotel had already been open for over three months when we stayed there!
We booked a suite so that we had a bit more space for our 21 month old to run around in. The sofas are so hard we didn't want to sit on them at all, and sat on the beds instead!
There were four of us and a baby in the room. Every day they replaced our towels (even though we hung them up and were happy to reuse them) and every day they replaced them with the standard three towels, so every day we had to go back to reception and ask for more.
On arrival the female receptionist seemed like everything was too much trouble for her and seemed to be in a bad mood once we'd asked if it was possible to have a room looking at the mountains (which she said no to). We told her we'd asked to have a crib/cot in the room in advance so she went and got one and just pushed it into the reception area and left us to struggle with taking it up to the room along with all our cases. We didn't see her again after the first day (thankfully!) and the other receptionist we saw called Suzanne (I think) was always friendly, police and helpful (if it wasn't for her we would have rated the service 'poor').
The bathrooms could do with coat hooks on the back of the bathroom doors and soap dishes. Minor things, but every other hotel seems to have them and they're fairly basic and cheap!
Two of the electricity sockets in our room didn't work, which is very poor for a brand new hotel!

We would stay here again and recommend it to friends, but it would be great if management could sort out the few issues that prevented us from giving it five stars.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view! One side of the hotel (same side as the dining room) looks out to beautiful...

after 3 days "hunting" in the parks Jasper and Banff we came on the way back to Vancouver in the Holiday Inn Express in Golden. It is brand new (couple of years we assume) but everything is update. From all the Holiday Inn Express we stayed in was this from the outfit the best.

As they did not have a restaurant the front desk people were very helpful in finding a restaurant. Once we are in the neighborhood next year we will certainly choose this hotel.

It was an exceptionally clean hotel with the most helpful front associate (Rav) .Easy to find on the main highway so a great place to stop. The complimentary breakfast was very good and included ham, eggs, bacon, pancakes and the other usual breakfast items. We were traveling with 2 small children so good breakfast is always a good start without having to go to sit down restaurant. Only helpful thing would have been a high chair.

The hotel is brand new so everything is very nice and clean.

Location is good for quick stopover as near the highway but would not be great for an extended stay as it is not in town centre.

One staff member on front desk was extremely rude and unhelpful which was not great.

This hotel saved our day! We had booked in to a small hotel and were disgusted by how dirty it was... Then had no place to stay. We called thinking it would be full like all the rest, or it would be $200+ a night, but we were pleasantly surprised!
The fantastic front desk girl not only spoke great English but she had a room at a reasonable price in a brand new hotel!!

We swam in the awesome pool and relaxed in the huge hot tub! The kids were in heaven!
Our room was huge and super clean. Pillows were even marked "soft" and "firm"!!
To top it off the front desk girl, after hearing our horror story from the first hotel, gave us a complementary bottle of champagne to help us feel better! She was super sweet!
We will stay here again and highly recommend it to everyone!!

This brand new hotel is in an excellent location for business or leisure travellers. Right on Hwy 1, it's easy to access for a quick overnight stop. Only about five minutes from downtown, it's also good for a stopover visit to Golden. Quick, polite check-in, beautifully clean and fresh (it is brand new), our room had a king bed, easy chair, desk, coffee, micro, etc. WiFi connected seamlessly and there were plenty of easy-access outlets for laptops and camera batteries. Very comfortable mattress and - bless the designers - excellent light in the bathroom. I could actually see to put on my make-up. Thank you! Breakfast room bright and cheerful even on a very rainy morning. Food fresh and tasty. Food areas constantly tidied and cleaned. I hate paper plates and plastic cutlery, as much for the environmental impact as for pleasure of eating experience. I get the labour-saving, but I still don't like it. Overall, very good accommodations. I would certainly stay here again and recommend to others.
