“Very enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

Stayed here for 4 nights arriving Xmas day. Met by our host who was very friendly, we arrived quite late after the drive from Calgary which was no problem, he even emailed us to make sure all was well. Room is lovely, spacious and very well equipped. The walk in wardrobe is big enough to be a separate room! Fantastic, clean bathroom with large tub and sepearate shower. King size bed is super comfy, only slight issue was it was very warm in the room at times, never needed the fire! Smart TV with Netflix great bonus and unusual to find!

The breakfast set-up was easy and simple. We purchased our own eggs and kept them in the fridge along with my beer. No problems with other guests or putting my dirty dishes in the dishwasher, its not that hard!

Short drive (10 min) to the ski hill and free parking up there. Golden town centre small but functional with a couple of nice bars and a well stocked supermarket.

Only downside to this lovely inn is finding it. We struggled and even when getting a map directions from a service station, it took us a good 45 minutes.

Once we found the inn though, the host gave us easy walking shortcuts which made getting around a breeze!

This was one of very few decent sleeps we have had while in Canada and have put this down to the incredibly comfortable bed, lovely linen and peaceful neighborhood.

Would stay again :-)

What a find... We were greeted at the door by one of the owners.and given a guided tour of the hotel facilities. Beautiful property and stylish rooms. Attention to detail is the key here, our room had a great view and was immaculate as was the bathroom and steam assisted shower. Free use of a large communal kitchen, diner and lounge. Very comfortable stay. Good outside facilities with riverside walks to nearby town. Scenic surroundings.

Room Tip: just reserve a room and go, you will like it.!

We were very pleased to find the Inn in Golden. It is set in a quiet part of the small town, but not far from the centre shops and other restaurants. Our host was very genial and proved to be very well informed about hotels and traffic conditions in the Jasper-Banff-Calgary area. The common area (kitchen and living room) was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was a do-it-yourself affair, with plenty of muffins, bagels, bread, o.j., yogurt, and coffee. Our room was large and well appointed with a very comfortable bed, wing back chair and the best array of TV programming we have ever encountered. The bathroom was huge, complete with a large soaker tub and separate shower. The restaurant recommended to us, the Eleven22 was excellent. Having enjoyed our first night's stay, we returned on our way back for a second. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

We found the bed so comfortable and the bathroom with the steam shower was a bonus. The linens were immaculate and the deep soaker tub was a welcome treat after a long drive. We loved listening to the nearby river lull us to sleep. This inn is in a residential area of town, several blocks off the highway, but its worth the search. It's simple breakfast fare, make your own coffee, etc but the price is right and it sure beats a cheap hotel, by a long shot. A weedy yard or no dishwasher, doesn't bother me, I appreciated the great bed and a great sleep!

Right from first impressions it wasn't good. The yard was not maintained and weeds were growing everywhere. Kitchen was dirty and not well stocked for a full house. Barbecue was filthy with no tools available. Chairs were dangerous and still did not have enough for everyone. Hosts were creepy. We had little privacy. Host will walk throught the place without acknowledgement. Our bedroom was descent. Bed was comfortable. TV was nice. Bathroom needed professional help. The tub and shower fixtures were loose making the shower noisey. Shower curtain was too small making the experience very drafty.
Not recommended. There are nicer places in the area.

Probably a bit more good than bad, but with a bit of elbow grease and some attention to detail, this could be a really nice retreat. The bed was very comfortable and the linens nice. The rest was lacking. The gardens need weeding and trimming to make the first impression favourable. The kitchen needed a good cleaning - the sink, the glass table - and wilted fowers should have been discarded. Making my own breakfast took the second "B" out of the equation for me. I have never stayed in a B&B where the host didn't make a fresh/hot breakfast. The view out the windows is gorgeous I am sure, but the windows desperately need cleaning.

This could be such a gorgeous place. On the upside, dinner at Eleven 22 as recommended by the host, was amazingly good - rivals any great restaurant in Calgary or Vancouver.

Dear Joan

I was sorry to see that you were disappointed with River to Peaks. In regards to the overgrown garden; the parent company handyman was well overdue with weed whacking as he has been in Canmore assisting with the flood disaster recovery. He made it here Sunday evening and we are back to respectable. In regards to breakfast, our website states that we provide "a self-serve breakfast" as "a light continental style breakfast". River to Peaks sits in a beautiful location with 2 man-made hindrances; dust from coal trains and a mill provide plenty of "treatment" to our windows. Yes, I need to get the upper windows cleaned again. Please come back again.
