So you've left the urban/suburban caffeine mecca of the lower mainland in your dust, and you've embarked on a journey that's at least 2-3 hours drive before the next Starbuck's (or even a Tim's)... oh, the humanity!
But wait, there's hope. Literally, Hope, B.C., where you will find one of the best coffee houses in the entire world... the Blue Moose Cafe.
This place holds its own against any chain or indie coffee shop, anywhere. But in Hope - the gateway to the vast B.C. wilderness - the Blue Moose shines like a last beacon of civilization.
The folks are friendly, warmly greeting travellers and locals alike. They brew a great cup of java, have quality teas, and make bang-on espresso drinks. The muffins are a bit 'cakey' for my personal tastes, but they're good none-the-less. As are the scones, squares, cookies, etc. I believe there are also soup, sandwich, panini options availalbe (haven't paid attention to that because I'm never looking for a full meal in Hope), so you can get everything from a quick snack to a wholesome light meal.
The vibe is good - a cool blend of urban chic with small town eclectic - and there's plenty of seating to hang out while you nibble. The lovely civic park is right across the street, with a great playground for the kids to release a bit of pent up energy from the drive.
You'll be glad you scheduled a stop at the Blue Moose...enjoy!
