We stayed here for one night on the way back to Edmonton. Upon check in the clerk looked rather irritated about something while she was checking in the guest ahead of me. She also looked irritated when I proceeded to check in, and again when I saw her check in another guest later in the evening, she just looked annoyed with people in general. It did make for an uncomfortable first impression for me. However, the room proved to be sufficient for an overnight stay...clean and comfy, but not enough towels for four people. The room was quite nice, but the bathroom rather outdated. Pool was nice, breakfast was good...waffles, muffins, etc. At checkout I had a different front desk clerk, she was super cheerful and friendly....smiling, joking, wishing us a safe journey! I would probably stay again if passing through Merritt.

On behalf of myself and the staff of Best Western Nicola Inn, I would like to thank you for your recent review. I would like to apologize if you felt uncomfortable when checking in, but I have discussed with staff that 'attitude' is very important. We are here to make our guests feel welcome, and if they are having a problem, they need to leave it outside when they come to work.
We strive for 'excellence' here at the Best Western, Nicola Inn. We take comments and other feed back seriously, in order to provide the best experience we can for our guests.
Thank you again for taking the time to submit your review, and if you should ever be travelling through our fair city again, and are looking for accomodations, I truly hope we will be your first choice.

We stayed for one night en-route from the Rockies to Vancouver Island and we found this a convenient place to stay, not far from the highway.

We had a very plesant welcome at reception and was directed to our room on the first floor of the hotel (actually motel). I didn't see any lifts and therefore the only access was via a set of stairs. The receptinist also recommended a good place for a steak nearby - Middlesboro Pub (about 10 minute walk away)

The room was spacious and well equipped. The only downside was the noise of other guests outside going in/out of their rooms. This included numerous children running around but this was due to what seemed to be a schools soccer trip.

The breakfast was a buffet. Unfortunately this seemed to be a usual Best Western approach of polystyrene cups and bowls which doesn't give good first impressions. When entering the breakfast area it was a scene of chaos as it seemed that the childrens soccer team had already visited, so most tables had empty plates/cups left behind. Staff seemed slow or reluctant to clear the tables for new guests.

Stayed 2 nights while working in Merritt. From the road, the hotel main lobby building and restaurant building look like they have been updated. The actual motel (inn) section of the hotel appears really outdated from the outside.

The room furniture was modern ( bed, desk, leather sitting chair), however, it is evident that the rest of the decor has been neglected- like the pink seashell wallpaper in the small bathroom.

Room door was very hard to close, and could hear other guests having to pull hard on their door to close. Also can hear others walking on the patio outside.

The breakfast is standard for a BW. Disposable everything, cookies, pastries, donuts included in the breakfast selections. Very few healthyish items to choose from. As others have said, breakfast area is small and hot!

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor have to access to an elevator. Can hear people walking on the balcony.

This hotel provides clean and comfortable rooms and includes a nice bed and a reclining couch. The rooms have a bright decor and offer good conveniences such as a small fridge and a microwave. The showers are overall excellent.

Yet, there are a few inconveniences that made our experience a bit less enjoyable. For instance, very few towels are provided. The continental breakfast was depleted rather fast and didn't seem to be restocked for the guests. Staff attitudes vary from super professional and friendly to lukewarm and indifferent.

This is a good hotel option in the area and apparently considered one of the better hotels. You will no doubt get a comfortable sleep and a decent experience. But the little things here can be improved.

PROS:
- Good quality rooms with extras like a reclining couch, fridge and a microwave
- Comfortable beds with nice sheets and covers
- Excellent showers
- Clean and well maintained property
- Good location

CONS:
- Few towels are provided
- Breakfast does not seem to be replenished often
- Staff attitudes are a bit inconsistent

This is a nice and quiet place overall.

Room Tip: Try to park close to your room as this hotel does not seem to have elevators. If you have a lot of...

Thank you for taking the time from your day to post a review regarding your recent stay at Best Western Nicola Inn. We appreciate all feed back our guests give...the positive allows us to know our strengths and the negatives where we need to improve.
This is not an excuse, but we have recently had a major change over in staff, and this could be the very reason, you noticed a difference in staff professionalism, and the reason the breakfast was not restocked as quickly as it should be.
I do hope that if Merritt is ever in your destination plans again, you will join us once again.

We stayed for 1 night during the first half of May.
Our room for the night was situated in a 2 storey building opposite the main building /lobby area, built in a square shape with a courtyard in the middle that had seats and a table and outside lighting. There are no lifts so consider a ground floor room if lifting luggage is an issue. Our room had a small balcony with chairs which was an ideal spot to sit and relax after a busy day travelling. The room was a good size, well maintained and very clean.
The staff at the front desk that we met were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was included and had a good variety of items which were regularly replenished.
There is coffee and hot water in the lobby during the day and a computer for public use - unfortunately we found the internet speed to be so slow that sites wouldn't load.
Whilst we were there some work was being done both to the outside of the hotel and to the grounds - it would appear as if this hotel keeps on top of things - a positive point in my opinion.
We would certainly stay here again if visiting the area.

This is an older best western, with smaller rooms(currently being renovated) but they have extremely comfortable beds, and all basic amenities including fridge, microwave, coffee maker. When we checked in the lady at the front desk was EXTREMELY friendly and understanding of all our needs. I wish I would have caught her name. When we arrived to our room we realized the air conditioner was not working, the manager came over and offered us a new room. The rate was 120 with tax (caa rate). They have a restaurant and pool on site, the pool is in its own building which is nice. The one complaint about this hotel is when we went for breakfast in the lobby there was 4 tables and they were all full. We went back to our room and came back in a half hour and some of the same people were still there. They need a bigger breakfast area, if the hotel is full there is no where near enough room. I'm not sure why they don't just use the restaurant. Other then that everything was good.

We stayed in a room on the upper floor. The room itself was nice and adequately equipped. There was a minor cleaning issue, for which we called the front desk and within minutes someone was there to take care of it. Rooms in general were noise free, but since we were on the upper floor if anyone walked through the balcony it could be heard inside.

There is a pool and a hot tub, in the complex. Pool has decent temperature water and the hot tub with acceptably hot water. My only issue with the hot tub is that the chlorine levels were unacceptably high, to the extent where if you turned the whirlpool jets on the whiff's of chlorine in the water made it challenging to breath and I am sure something like that can't be good for the skin.

The breakfast provided, is decent and the staff is very friendly.
