It is a quiet area, walking trails lead to a great overview of the Fraser River, Matsqui, and north-east toward Chilliwack, with mountains in the background. The Abbey itself is spectacular - brilliant stained glass in abstract seasonal colors. The art work is superb. Religious services and evensong are held daily, and visitors are welcome - it is packed on Catholic holy days, so come early if you want to participate. The bell tower can be seen from miles away; carillon plays at regular hours, and can be heard in the surrounding areas and Hatzic community to the east. There is a visitors area, with a model of the grounds and buildings, and information about the history. The Benedictine order operates a dairy, grow their own foods, and are welcoming to visitors. Please stay on the paths and respect the quiet environment.

Perched high on the bluff about Mission City, Westminster Abbey boasts an architecturally unusual church, a soccer field, sports court, and winding paths surrounded by mature rhododenrons, azaleas, and other beautiful trees. The forest path ultimately leads to a breathtaking view of the East Fraser Valley.

Great location and would certainly look at going for a retreat here. Very peaceful and quiet on the top of a knoll with a great view. Large pastoral setting.

When you are in the Mission area you must visit this local treasure. The lovely abbey has huge beautiful, modern stained glass windows. Wander around the serene grounds and follow the path to an incredible view of the area. Public is welcome to masses just check times.

Westminster Abbey is a beautiful place, very peaceful and the architecture of the building along with the stained glass was stunning. Well worth a look round. I would imagine it would be a perfect spot for a picnic but you may have to take a rug as there weren't any picnic tables around. Don't forget your camera!
