I have read about the All Seasons Cafe for many years, so I was pleasantly surprised with the food when I finally dined there.

Make sure you visit in good weather--the patio is one of the most intimate, cozy places you are going to find anywhere. I had the halibut, served with a spicy tomato sauce, surprising but it really did work.

Make sure you try a bottle of wine from BC. They have some of the great vineyards represented in their short, but excellent, wine list.

Don't forget desert! I had the flower-less chocolate torte. Yes, I know that is the "in thing" for deserts these days, but have you ever tried it with a cherry-flavored port wine? It was fantastic!

The service is relaxed--expect a minimum of 90 minutes for a great dining experience.

We just finished another perfect meal at the All Seasons Cafe in Nelson, BC. Tonight we dined on a warm local shitake mushroom salad, halibut with chardonnay, crisped skin wild sockeye salmon, excellent espresso, orange crème brûlée, a trio of truffles. Our hostess was knowledgeable and suggested a wonderful Cab/Melot from Hester Creek Vineyards. We have dined at the ASC several times over the past few years, and it has always been our restaurant of choice for dinner in Nelson. Nelson has many excellent restaurants, but for dinner you must try the All Seasons Cafe.

Crusted halibut was superb. Rest of the meal was rather splendid too. Great place to sit out on the patio on a warm summer evening.

My husband and Ii had terrific halibut entrees and split a fish appetizer that had three different things. One of the them, the olive-crusted albacore, was memorable, the other two (ceviche and prawns) were very good.
We are used to longer dinners but service was a little slow. The server was very good; the slowness came from, the kitchen.
The restaurant was gracious in accommodating my huband's dietary limitations.
The patio was attractive. The music was a little louder than we like, but that is probably because it was not to our taste.
We'd probably go back.

Amazing restaurant. The ambiance captures the essence of Nelson's pristine landscape. The date cheese cake is a must try. Will Definately make a trip back here on a return trip.
