“For a small town museum, this place was full of surprises!”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

This place really took us by surprise. They had an incredible art installation from a lovely Canadian modern artist as well as a great local heritage exhibition. The amount of things we learned in the few hours we were there was just great! I highly recommend stopping by and taking in some local flavour.

“Always interesting shows.”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Arin Fays show on paintings of Kootenay Women Writers is delightful. Touchstones often has speakers and workshops on the installations, and many community events as well.

“For a taste of history”

For a taste of the history of Nelson BC and the local artists located in what was the old City Hall the Touchstones Museum is the place to go.

“Nelson culture”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

I went to the museum as part of the English Class I do. It's very good, but small. I loved the part about the history of Nelson and around. The art exposition part wasn't great at the time...

“Who is Touchstone?”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

The museum didn't interest me much - it is small, which usually means a chance to get up close and personal with the artifacts, but that wasn't the case here. Each "topic" (such as Mining in the Kootenays) was presented on a large poster board with little snippets of information arranged in a random pattern. It was hard to get a coherent history of Nelson and area or to get an appreciation of what life was like in the Kootenays in earlier days.
