We booked one night August 2012 as we were driving through Nelson. My husband saw that the ratings were decent but what a let down. It seems to be on a rowdy street and when we pulled up there seemed to be a lot of partiers and questionable people. Checked in and had to carry our luggage up a steep flight of stairs (no elevator) and went down the shabby windy hallway to our room. Our room was very dirty, the window looked out to the liquor store parking lot which seemed to be a popular place based on the noise all night. Very, very old and dingy decor and a weird smell. Also the bathroom wasn't cleaned very well as I found short curly hairs on the floor. The toilet wasn't secured properly so when you sat on it, it made a loud thumping noise and tipped. Also, the bagged breakfast was inedible. I didn't think this was going to be the Shangri La but we did pay $120 for this room and feel that that for the quality of hotel and room, they should only be charging maximum half of that.
