“Great charcuterie plate”
Reviewed April 28, 2012

We noticed that Bibo had a great ambiance as soon as we walked in. The wine list had rotating wines by the glass that our server informed us of. I liked that they kept it fresh that way. The large charcuterie plate was excellent for 2 people as a very generous starter. I recommend the lamb shank for an entree! The celery root puree was a fantastic side dish. I found it worth the money. I noticed that some were complaining of the prices for the value. Our bill came to just over $100 with drinks, (beer and wine), a strarter, and entrees.

“Fun place with good food”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

I really enjoyed Bibo's. I went with a group of guys after a day of skiing. Our waitress Deidre was fantastic. The food was great. It was a very comfortable place for us.

Next time I go back to Nelson, I will definitely eat at Bibos.

“Great Restaurant”
Reviewed March 21, 2012

The restaurant is in an old house and has a neat dimly lit interior. We arrived just after 7 without a reservation. The waitress said that they were fully booked at 8:30 so we could have a table if we would promise to be out by then. We felt up to the challenge so went for it. The bartender arrived with the drink list and a serious demeanor. He explained that their specialty is cocktails, mostly modern remakes of classic drinks. We decided to try a cocktail rather than our usual wine and beers. I forget what mine was called but it was pretty good. Gin, lemon, simple syrup and sage. Worked well. I had another one called a "perfect storm" which was stronger and good for completely different reasons. Probably it would be nice to peruse the menu with while the gin one would be better to finish a meal off instead of backwards like I did them. In any case, they did a good job of the drinks and they were different from the normal ones which made it interesting.
We went with an appetizer, arancini, which neither of us have heard of before. It came as two balls of risotto, crispy on the outside with cheese stuffed inside and on a bed of tomato sauce. On their own the arancini felt like it needed more. We both love cheese so more cheese couldn't hurt but they seemed a little bland. We tried the tomato sauce on them and that certainly kicked them up and made them quite good. The tomato sauce was really good and the combination of flavours and textures really worked. For main course, Leigh Ann had mushroom gnochi. Tasty and good. Everything that gnochi should be. I had sockeye salmon on lemon risotto. Nicely cooked salmon and the risotto was nicely done. Making it lemon risotto was a great way to get the citrus to complement the salmon. Really very good. Desert was a lemon tart - tangy, lemony with a crisp shortbread crust. Again very good. Service was fantastic. Food was great. Atmosphere was very nice. Total cost $100 for 3 drinks, appy, 2 entrees and desert. Quite good for this level of food.

“Doesn't live up to its prices”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

The service was mediocre and the acoustics allowed us to overhear conversations across the restaurant. The meal was good, but not great and seemed greatlu over-priced.
