Owner description: Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park straddles the scenic Little Qualicum River, west of Parksville, where impressive waterfalls cascade and plummet down a rocky gorge in a beautiful forest setting. Perhaps the most magnificent park on Vancouver Island, Little Qualicum Falls incorporates the entire southern shore of Cameron Lake, adjacent to MacMillan Provincial Park and the awesome Cathedral Grove Rainforest. Cameron Lake is bordered by steep mountains: Mt. Wesley to the north and Mt. Arrowsmith to the south.

A very nice hiking trail along and above the river, and in the woods, made this a most pleasant place to visit.

The falls are so pretty. I went in august and we had not had rain all summer but they were still running strong. There are two ways to access the falls and i have done both of them. One is off the old island highway but that is a little more awkward to find if you are unsure. In august I went to from the Alberni highway. this time I walked past the falls and down the trail to the bottom, up through the campground and then down the trail back to the day use area. You can do something like this if you have time or you can just go to the bridges and see the falls. You will be able to find them easy enough because you will hear them well before you see them. Enjoy, I know I did.

This park was always our favorite place to get away when my boys were younger. I still love to go here and walk the trails and remember my Mom and Dad enjoying the sames sights and sounds. I'll always love it here. Now I'm looking forward to taking my Granddaughter to the same little places along the trails and telling her the stories of times we shared.

A beautiful series of falls that meander through the forest. A great photo opportunity. Plan to spend a couple of hours.

Due to the proximity to the highway but remoteness of the site leaving valuables in your vehicle is not a good idea.
The trails that wind around and beside the river (Qualicum River) are lined with large Douglas fir as well as Madrona (Arbutus) trees. The river itself flows out of Cameron Lake and the water is fresh and pure and great to drink. The falls themselves are beautiful forming several pools. There are barriers that protect against falls into the very dangerous falls and rapids. Don't even think of going off the path and into the well marked danger areas. There have been accidents and fatalities in the past. That said. Enjoy the beautiful falls and water as well as the trees and nature that surrounds you.
There is a campsite that is well worth staying at as well. You can fish for crayfish above the falls by the campground and they make a tasty snack.
