The development is very new with ongoing development still in progress and all suites are in excellent shape. The 1 bedroom we were in had all necessary amenities. Morning coffee on the private patio was quiet and enjoyable. For evening barbeques each suite has a natural gas barbeque for your use. If internet is a requirement and the wireless reception is weak in your suite check with the front desk as they do have spare Ethernet cables that you can borrow. However, I would recommend too play it safe and take a cable with you in case there aren’t any available during your visit. The ocean view from the back of the property is beautiful and on a good day you may find yourself spending hours overlooking the ocean view. Rathtrevor Provincial Park is literally next door and is a must visit. Parksville itself is a great location to use as your launching pad for day trips further north and west of the island. However, if planning on going to Tofino you may want to plan an overnight stay in Tofino. We will definitely be staying at Sunrise Ridge on our next visit to Parksville

My mother and I spent three days at Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort recently and enjoyed our visit very much. We live on Vancouver Island, but are originally from the prairies and have never taken for granted the beautiful surroundings of ocean and forest available at ones doorstep in this part of the world. The resort itself is lovely. Our two bedroom, two bathroom unit with living room, balcony and modern kitchen was first class in all aspects. We were two very spoiled ladies.
There is no restaurant or pool yet and the housekeeping is very basic with fresh towels provided and garbage removed daily. Very obliging staff if you need anything else though. Very nice lounge area with newspapers, coffee and tea and comfortable chairs. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Beautiful lobby and friendly and knowledgable staff that also hosted a late Saturday afternoon wine and cheese get together by the outdoor fireplace. I would love to return. We had a very special rate due to fact that we were introduced to the resort and ownership possibilities. Very pleasant and informative with no pressure.

We had also looked into Tigh Na Mara and some of the other hotels along Resort Drive, but Sunrise Ridge was by far the best value for one of the nicest places we saw. The other places have more of the "cabin" feel and decor and looked like they were built 15-20 years ago. This one, as some of the other reviews have mentioned, is still being completed.

We initially checked in for 1 night, but ended up staying here for 3 nights and were very happy with it. From check-in to check-out the staff were nice and we were comfortable in the one-bedroom unit. We faced the Lodge and its outdoor patio but we were only about a leisurely 7-10 minutes' walk down to the expansive beach. Outside our balcony, we could look out and watch a deer and a black and white rabbit grazing.

We were in one of the smaller one bedroom units and shared an entrance with a larger 1-BR unit. We also shared the washer and dryer with them, which was in the entranceway. On the second night, another family moved into that room and they were doing laundry until about 11pm. Since we had a baby sleeping in the bedroom, we were worried the noise would wake him up, but it turns out that we could hear it better in the living room than in the bedroom.

They give Bath and Bodyworks toiletries, which I liked. They smelled nice. We didn't have a bathtub - only a HUGE shower. I'd recommend that they install a shelf or something to put toiletries on in the shower, and with all that room, they could even put a bench in there too. But that's a minor point. I'm happy that the bathroom and the rest of the room was very clean. They also provided a little box of laundry detergent and fabric softener. The kitchen had a microwave and fridge, plates, utensils, etc. No oven. It was a very small eating area and then the living room. Also, the living room had a gas fireplace. The switch to the fireplace was on the opposite side of the room, which the hotel staff helpfully pointed out to us after we called.

The first morning we were there, I walked into the lobby and a staff member told me they had complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge. I hadn't even noticed it when we checked in, but it's just off the lobby with a big-screen tv, lots of couches, and newspapers.

Our family of 4 stayed at the Sunrise Ridge Resort for Father's day and enjoyed ourselves in a large 2 bedroom suite. The front lobby was beautiful and inviting. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The suite was large and luxurious with high ceilings, 2 bathrooms, 1 with a soaker tub, a well stocked kitchen fit for a gourmet chef, large patio with gas BBQ and eating area, modern and tasteful decor, gas fireplace, and insuite laundry. We were quite comfortable and my son enjoyed the flatscreen TV in his room.
There are many activities in the area such as the amazing beaches, mini golf, parksville playground and waterpark, Coombs Market, forest hikes etc. We have stayed at other resorts in the area and this exceeds the others by far in quality and luxury.

My husband and I enjoyed a 3 night vaction at Sunrise over the May long weekend. We were well aware that the property is still under construction and we would look forward to staying again when completed. The reception area is lovely and the unit is very well fitted with a BBQ and very large kitchen island. Nice beds and a short walk to the ocean. I even liked the dishes so much that I wanted to know where they came from but missed getting the info when I checked out. (If management reads this, please email me back.)Be sure to stop and get the golf discounts. Huge value at some courses. Only issue is that the people above us had very noisy kids and the lady below had a booming voice that told the neighbourhood way to much info.

My family came out from back east to visit BC. After spending sometime on the mainland, we wanted to head to Tofino. We decided to stay in Parksville on the way and try out this new resort. I have stay at other resorts in the past but don't remember staying at such a luxurious an beautiful place as this for the price. Granted we were treated to a beachfront chalet, but our jaw dropped as we came in, saw the rooms, the bathrooms and the kitchen. FULLY LOADED. Even the wine bottle opener was found. LCD screens in each bedroom made my teenager jump for joy. The large beds were a huge treat. Then we scampered to the promised view. Nothing but amazement filled us. The beach, the ocean, righ there. I mean RIGHT there. Then we the dinner plans changed as we noticed the delux gas BBQ and the heater outside. The next morning was no less magical. The sunrise (er the name of the resort was breathtaking. We enjoyed it so much that we considered not continueing to the west coast of the Island. We relunctantly left.

The wonderful welcome at check in, the flexibility with our booking, the fully loaded suite and top notch quality of the facilities... we felt like high society, or royalty. The grounds are not finished yet, but the beach is wide there and access is perfect to the water.

Thank you. We will deffinately be back

Don't know which [Resort ?] the top 6 reviewers stayed at, but it certainly wasn't where we were, at Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort in Parksville, B.C. Canada.
We booked for 2 nights, Easter weekend.
From their own website on April 01, 2009 when we booked, they stated :

Amenities
Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort offers guests and owners luxurious resort living with hotel style amenities including:

5 swimming, relaxation and hot pools . [They have none]
Children's play center . [Never saw any]
Fitness facilities . [Nope]
Lounge area . [Nope]
Meeting rooms . [Any 2bit hotel could state this]
On site restaurant . [Do not have]

To their credit, since our 1 night stay , they have changed the wording on their website to reflect the fact that they have no amenities.
We checked out the next morning and move next door where they had what they advertised!
When we arrived home I contacted Expedia, who we booked thru, and they contacted Sunrise Ridge to check m our horror story, and agreed to a full reimbursement of our 2day booking.
Thankyou Expedia.
I am writing this review, not to be spiteful, but to warn other unsuspecting travellers. Hope this helps someone.
