I heard they had a new Owner. I guess they didnt listen, and tried to go cheap on the product and cheap on the quality of the product. We had fish and chips and a calamari dish that was totally unedible.

Westcoast fare at it's finest in a warm friendly atmosphere. Go with the seafood you will be rewarded.

Daughter suggested we take our relatives there as she has enjoyed their lunch menu. What a mistake! The special prawn, scallop, shrimp curry had been sitting for some time so seafood mostly tiny shrimp with a few even tinier scallops and a couple of swamp prawns was tough, the four slices of carrots were totally overcooked with no texture and much of the lettuce in the salad was limp. Others had fish and chips where the batter hadn't been cooked through, therefore gummy and raw inside. The waitress began to wash the floor while we were eating and was using a strong smelling cleaner, can't tell you how that enhanced the meal. Though known for their fisherman's bread, and it's still good, it alone is not worth it.

Stopped for supper on BC Day. We asked at our motel where we could get good, fresh seafood and Swale Rock was recommended. Tasted promising when they served the excellent Fisherman's bread and homemade Bumbleberry jam but unfortunately that was the best part of the meal. The Fanny Bay oysters were hard to find in the heavy breading (looked like they were sliced in half or pounded thin?) and the charbroiled halibut fillet was nicely cooked but did not taste fresh. Service was friendly but average.

Worst service in the world, not only was the waitress the worst waitress I have ever seen she was the most insulting. The food was okay, not great, you would think being in Port Alberni you would get fresh prawns, but they were those little frozen things. When someone in our group sent his food back, cause he thought it would be fresh prawns the waitress attacked him verbally and as we were leaving she had a few choice words for us. Never will go back
