“World Class Fish and Chips”

Yes it really is well done and presented with friendly service. We came early to this renovated old church turned restaurant and found locked doors with closed signs, but no information about when they would open, 11:30 is when.
One piece Halibut fried in traditional beer batter was outstanding as were the fries. Perhaps the best fish and chips we have enjoyed in some years.
Limited menu keeps it simple and excellent.

“Great lunch place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

we stopped on our way to Tofino based on reviews and were very happy we did! Small menu but provides enough flexibility (choose type of fish - halibut, cod, salmon, type of batter - english style, panko bread, grilled, type of side - fries, caesar salad, coleslaw or 1/2 combinations and 2 sauces - plum sauce, lemon dill, tartar, tangy asian...) We had a 3 years old with us and didn't see the kid menu, but the owner mentioned they had kid chicken strips (which my daughter loves)
Food was great (fries slightly fry) and the place got full while we were there - always a good sign as it was a weekday. Decor is nice and comfy in a renovated church, staff very friendly. We ended up paying 63$ for a 4 people + 1 kid lunch with drinks, which was definitively worth it. I would love to go back today :)

“good lunch.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

went over to port alberni today to go to a "home show", then drove around town as hadn't been there for awhile. stopped in here for lunch due to trip advisor comments. i had attended a cousin's wedding here years ago and now it's a fun place for a restaurant! fun decor and idea. one chooses the fish, the coating, the sides, and the sauce. service was quick and friendly. the fries are oven baked is seems, so a bit of a different taste. our panko dipped hailbut was delicious. we shared a 2 piece halibut meal, and it was a good sized helping. not very many tables, but for an early sat. lunch we all were served and others left and others were arriving when we were finished. right on the main street into town, on the way to tofino, easily accessible. i'll return next time i go through town!

“Fish and Chips…A religious experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Congratulations tripadvisor reviewers….based soley on your recommendations our family decided to stop in for lunch on our drive through to Tofino. Bare Bones..you did not disappoint! Set in a old church this quirky lunch spot serves up some of best fish and chips on the west coast. Menu is perfectly simple…your choice of fish (cod, halibut, salmon)..your choice of batter (beer or panko) or deliciously grilled. Probably the hardest decision you'll make is how many pieces to order! Portions are ample, served with endless fries and a choice of coleslaw or caesar salad. Service was impeccable! We loved it so much we stopped for a second time on our way home a week later! Just a note- we dined with our 2 children and an alternative to ordering off the kids menu is to order a 2-piece to share (more economical, same portions).
