I read the other reviews and decided to check out Santa Rosa, especially since I’m a fan of Mexican food. It closes early, 7pm, so is obviously more geared to the lunch crowd but we went for an early dinner as we wanted Mexican and there are almost no other options east of Burnaby. You order at the counter from the menu board and seat yourself. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We ordered the chicken nachos and pork enchiladas. The food arrived fairly quickly and the waitress was quite pleasant. Unfortunately we found the food itself to be very disappointing. The nachos were basically chips with diced tomatoes and cilantro, with some seasoned chicken shreds and a minimal amount of cheese and sour cream. No guacamole but I think you can order that separately. The enchiladas were also disappointing, they were covered in a bland red tomato sauce with no seasonings that we could taste (maybe the mole sauce is a better choice?). The rice and beans were equally uninspired. As nice as the service was I don’t think we’ll be back as you can make better Mexican food at home from a package.
