Great mountain with so much verticle and deep snow. Insane views and friendly staff. Much thought has gone into a balanced expansion plan. The town has a cool vibe and great eats. Value!!!!

“High steep and deep, and a great experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2011

Superb expert terrain at a very high altitude. Good grooming on some runs. Best powder in existence, cold, dry, and deep. The only thing possibly better is heliskiing.

Mountain and nearby Revelstoke town are friendly and charming. The hill itself is wonderful. Plenty of options for skiing down. Top chair is not for beginners, but there is an easy-out road of lower intermediates.

Wonderful "away from it all" feeling on runs out of sight of anyone else. Good glade skiing in powder. Some of the steepest possible groomed runs (winched cats) and if you fall, you slide, but exhilarating imitating a downhill racer.

Lifts are modern and fast. An isolated chair on skiers right is pleasant for families cruising.

Ideal skiing holiday destination with apparently some nightlife? and a lot of ambiance.

“more than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2011

Was fortunate to be at Revelstoke Mountain Resort for 5 days in early March - new snow each day and great skiing conditions in what has obviously been a great snow year for them. The terrain and space in resort is hard to comprehend [and I know there is more that I didn't get to see in the time I had]. Agreed it is a resort for committed skier/ riders and the planned development will help intermediates when they arrive.

Recommendation; if you can justify the spend, the Revelstoke Outdoor Centre -ROC, at the base can set you up with an instructor/ guide and show you some of the best gems hidden on the mountain. That way the groomers are only a small part of the experience. They also manage the bookings for heli and cat ski tours and the backcountry training and tours.

looking forward to a return visit - soon

“Overhyped.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2011

As an intermediate snowboarder, I can honestly say this place did not live up to my expectations in the slightest. This resort was built for SKIIERS not SNOWBOARDERS... This place is not for beginners and I would definitely not be bringing a family here.

Cons:
-Overgroomed runs - powder would probably be good if they let it stay on the mountain.
-Only 2 gondolas and 2 lifts - bottom gondola is packed because it is the only way up the mountain. I overheard other skiiers talking about a 3 hour line for it last weekend. Anticipate waiting. Also, I don't know if this is only on Sundays, but many of the lifts closed by 3/3:30...
-Not many amenities -small (busy) cafeteria, doesn't really have a village, just some condos at the bottom of the hill.
-Can do every run in a weekend and easily run out of things to do.
-Flattens out in quite a few areas. If snowboarding, you will be undoing your bindings.

Pros
-Lots of steep runs... If you like that..
-Lots of moguls.. If you like that..

This resort definitely caters to a particular type of rider.

“Wow ! Powder Galore !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2011

Just got back fromRevelstoke B.C. or 'Revy' as it's known locally. What a blast ! Lots of snow, and I mean lots ! 5 days of bliss. Great powder, trees, some nice groomers and dry terrain. This is a big mountain baby! We didn't bring our skis with us as we are from Ontario, so we rented from a place in Revelstoke called ' Revelstoke Powder Rentals'. This guy hooked us up big-time. Extremely experienced and knowledgable of the mountain and terrain. Top of the line Salomon big mountain equipment at an amazing price and super job on the tuning. Would come back here in a heartbeat.
