Pierre's Point Campground

This was hands down the worst vacation EVER!!!! The customer service was so horrendous! Words can't describe what Greg the so called manager put us through, clearly they have issues with children.....they say that they are a family orientated business but this is so not the case.
Our children played mini-golf one day and my 5 year old son lost one of his golf balls so Greg banned them from playing mini-golf.....really Greg???? They have a store on site but believe me they do not want you to spend money there, the girl that works there is constantly on her cell phone and watch out when you walk in you can see the anger in her eyes, we asked her for something and she told us to get it ourselves when she realized that it was the icecream we wanted she slammed down her phone on the counter and slapped it together. Whenever we asked Greg any questions about the kids or any other issues that came up his only response would be "do you want to get kicked out" now why would we want that. I just wanted to know what the kids were doing that was bugging him so much so I could sit down and have a talk with them, if I don't know what there doing wrong how can I deal with the problem. The washrooms were disgusting, no soap, no paper towel and haven't been cleaned in I don't know how long....ewwww! Looking for a relaxing vacation? Stay away from Pierre's and you will be fine. ZG

Greg W, Manager at Pierre's Point Campground, responded to this reviewResponded June 30, 2013

The nasty accusations are false and merely stem from angry customers who were evicted for serious rule infractions, and can only write bad reviews in order to try and hurt those who they feel have wronged them. The review from Sept. 3/12, as well as Aug. 21 & 22/12, neglect to mention that they were all evicted because their kids were bullies to other younger children, and that they were very unruly towards all the campground staff when approached regarding their bully behaviour. No parent wants to believe that their precious children are bullies, but bullying has become a very serious problem in todays society. When more people stand up against bullies we can at least enable them to see their faults and hopefully help themselves heal.

We stayed here for one night on the way through. The location is lovely with a beautiful view of the lake. There is obviously lots of people who enjoy this spot so much they stay for extended periods. The sites are quite close together but the trees helped make it a bit more private. Like many campgrounds in the Rockies, it is close to the train which is VERY loud. The service at reception was really friendly and helpful.

On the downside: the bathrooms had just been cleaned when I went in and I think all they did was toss some water around because they were really not nice. We wanted to get some washing powder from the shop and they had hardly anything on the shelves, including no washing powder.

Probably would not recommend it until the bathroom quality improves....

Rude staff, disgusting washroom facilities, minimal and incompetent security, and loud trains going by every 15 - 20 minutes all through the night!! definitely not a vacation by any means!!

I think the native band that leases out this land should reconsider their tenants.

We will never go there again with the current family operating this campground. They seriously have no idea how to operate a campground!!

The washrooms were incredibly unsanitary!! There was no soap in the dispensers or paper towels at all during the week. The toilets and floors were extremely dirty and the showers were scalding!!!

For one, they charged me exactly $100 too much on our bill. When I addressed this, he admitted he had done the same thing toi someone else the day before. Coincidence?? I don't think so!! Opportunity?? Absolutely!!! An opportunity to make an extra hundred dollars on whomever they can do it to and get away with it!!! Nice try, Mr. Gregg but I wasn't born yesterday!!!

The store staff was incredibly rude and disrespectful. From ignoring us and making us feel like they were doing us a favour by serving us. If you don't want business in your store than just say so and we'll go elsewhere to buy ice cream just like we did eventually!!! Or better yet, put a sign on the door saying you are not interested in any business!! You lazy butts!!!!

Also, they claim that they are a friendly family campsite!!! Really? Who are they kidding???? They were definitely not a friendly campsite. They seemed to be picking on our kids the whole week we were there!!!! (banned from the playground, banned from the golf, banned from the store). Give me a break!!!

Couldn't get a good night's sleep as the campground is right beside the train tracks and trains go by at every hour of the night. Even the ground shakes when the trains go by.

The lake was full of clay, seaweed and debris.

I certainly need another vacation to get over this ridiculously stressful week thanks to the incompetent operators if Pierre's Point Campground!!!!

Pierre's point was not a vacation for my family at all. From day one the staff began to target are children, banning them from everything including the playground. Claiming that the 8-11 year old children were not children and were not be found on a playground. The people running the store continuously gave attitude, whether it be that they would throw candy on the ground that the children had bought, or by not opening the door for my children but opening them for everyone else. As well, my children were banned from the mini golf course, for loosing one golf ball. Whenever we (the parents) would talk to the staff to find out what the children had done wrong, we were only threatened that they would kick us off the site. In addition to the threatening I witnessed the staff slam the door on a ladies arm, while she was standing in the doorway and you could hear constant yelling indicating that the staff would take care of her in the back room. The bathrooms were disgusting, not to mention they’re closed from 5-6 each day, which is not convenient. There is no hand soap in them or tissue paper, not to mention the floors are covered in waste. The lake is filled with clay, seaweed and rocks, and the site is located right next to the train tracks (trains came by every 15 min). Overall the campsite was not a vacation for my family, and for many of the neighboring families either. I would most definitely not recommend the campsite.

The location is beautiful..... BUT since it's been taken over the grounds are a mess, the bathrooms dirty and security is at a minimum. Last season our boat was stolen off the water and one of the culprits was a security guard at the campground. If ever you try to book a site you most likely will not receive a call back or email response. Drive on in and you can be sure to get a site because all the people who used to come have found better campgrounds. We will never return to this location that we used to cherish and love dearly .....
