Description: Since 1990, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant has served delicious seafood and West Coast cuisine in a spectacular setting along the Sidney waterfront at picturesque Port Sidney Marina. Patrons enjoy a warm ambience, great food, and unforgettable views of the ocean, Gulf & San Juan Islands and Mount Baker. The cozy restaurant and bar both boast warm feature fireplaces, and in warmer weather the two outdoor patios allow diners the opportunity to enjoy sunshine and sea breezes. "Staff are friendly and cheerful, and we have a great kitchen staff," "Our pub menu is first class." At the full-service bar, customers can choose from a large selection of beverages - there's local and import beer in the bottle and on tap, as well as a wide selection of wines. Owner Bill Singer worked for 14 years in the Oak Bay Beach Hotel's venerable Snug before opening the Rumrunner in 1990. Since then, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant has become a favoured spot for locals, a regular stop for visiting boaters, and a great find for visitors to Sidney.

I can easily walk from our home to the pub and it has probably the best views of the Haro strait and the Gulf Islands in Sidney. The patio is full in summer for lunches or dinners so come early or book a reservation.
I had lunch there today with a colleague and both the food and service were excellent. (even the company was good).
Overlooking the Port of Sidney marina with ample parking or just a short walk from two local hotels.

We have been here many times over the past six years, and we usually go because we have company from out of town, particularly if it is a nice summer day, we can eat outside and look at the very best view we have in Sidney, right down by the ocean. The thing that we always tell them before we go, is to stick to something simple, the food can be very "uneven" with some dishes being good, and others just edible. I think that if they upped the quality of the food (or changed the cook), they would be doing the best thing they could for the restaurant, not many people i know who live here would put this restaurant as a choice of their place to go for a really good meal. The nice fireplace in the evening in the winter makes it lovely to go in for a drink, but we don't choose to eat more than an appy because we like to snack when we eat.....I have had a "clubhouse sandwich" that had the toast burned, the bacon was obviously left over from breakfast, and I don't think that they really cared enough to make this any better, when I pointed out to the waitress that it was difficult to eat, it was REALLY burned, she took it back and it came back with lighter toast, but the same stiff hard cold bacon, and tomato that had green in the middle of the slice, so they didn't throw it and start again.....not a choice I would ever make again. Some of the dishes are obviously frozen and then reheated, my husband had a "crepe" with shrimp inside that was frozen on the inside, whether it was the shrimp or what we couldn't tell, however he refused to complain and picked his way through it. I think that if they changed the food they could be packed with people willing to pay a little more and who went there when the weather isn't so good, and went to have a good meal, something that a restaurant with a location like this deserves to have.

we came here for a late lunch with family who consider this to be one of their favourite restaurants - and we would agree. The portions were hug, food was excellent quality - and the view on a sunny July day was sublime.

My husband and I went to this pub because it was recommended by our hotel. Can't fault it on its oceanfront location, nice ambiance and great service. But the food was mediocre at best - we both ate from the special menu. My roast beef was OK but drowned in beef boullion cube gravy - salty and awful. The veggies were just weird - overcooked broccoli, strangely sweet carrots and horrible garlic mashed potatoes. The giant Yorkshire pudding was charcoal black. My husband's lamb shank was good but served with cold, pasty so-called saffron risotto. While we enjoyed our pleasant waitress and extensive wine/beer selection - we won't be back!

Anytime we want to have a quick bite at a relaxed pub the Rum Runner is our choice. Feet away from the ocean adds pleasure to any dinning experience
