“Great New Hotel! Light Bright & Airy Near Airport/Water”
Reviewed July 4, 2008

My husband & son stayed at this hotel right after it opened last summer and they loved it! Hubby isn't usually very effusive in giving hotel commentary unless it's realllllly nice. In this case, I wondered what he would say as I had booked for them and was staying behind, stateside. I called the first night and asked how it was - husband said "Fantastic - Just Great!!" Wow - that worked out! They said it was very comfortable, large room with great bed, good food, really nice staff and great location right at the water. You can check out their website at sidneypier.com. This hotel is in Sidney which is very close to the airport. Victoria is just over a half hour away so when we have an early morning flight home we always stay somewhere in Sidney & avoid the drive in from Victoria. We used to stay at another place which was convenient and nice but this hotel will be our new place. Enjoy!

We stayed at Sidney Pier for our first night of our honeymoon on Vancouver Island.
The hotel is easy to find (Sidney is quite small) and in a nice location by the water.

Our room was beautiful. We loved it. It was quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings were great. The view was pretty cool as well.

We ate in the hotel's restaurant, which was a bit pricey, but excellent. I would recommend you make a reservation, because they were packed all night (we walked in around 5 without a reservation and were told they were booked until after 8 - we took the 8:00 reservation and spent some time walking around the town and the waterfront, which was nice)

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay near the ferries or airport, but who didn't want to stay at a motel or a more decidedly business hotel. I wouldn't stay here for any great length of time, not because of the hotel's faults, but just because of the location - Sidney isn't the most central of locations..

The Hotel is brand new but indoor furnishing looks already dated. Friendliness of the personell especially in the restaurant was substandard. Furthermore, Sidney is a boring town. I would not stay there again.

Thanks to Trip Advisor, I found the hidden gem of an hotel for a few days stay in Victoria

Located near the airport ( not a problem ) , you have easy access to downtown Victoria by car ( about 30 minutes at the most ) You also have easy access to the ferries ( 5 minutes ) and to Butchards gardens ( 15 minutes driving ) . Free indoor parking

This is a beautifull boutique hotel in a very quaint 70' s style seaside community .
The standard room is large and beautifull. Large plasma screen with DVD player, Frette towels, huge glass panelled shower,
the lattest in coffe making technology. You think that your are in New York ( without the price ).
Loved the soap and shampoo
The decoration could be in a magazine

The only thing, as mentionned in earlier reports, is suboptimal lighting by night. Certainly romantic but not the best to read

The service is friendly and curteous.

I used the gym: nice view of the sea, and the spa was great

The best is the food: the hotel restaurant was a surprise: high quality , original, nice presentations large portions. Again, you think that you are in a big city

I highly recommand this hotel

Booked into Sidney Pier for a two night relaxation getaway during the week. Our goal was to do a whole lot of nothing. We booked relaxation massages at the spa the first day and facials the second. Enjoyed both treatments and found the staff to be excellent.

The hotel itself is very modern in design and the room we stayed in (Promenade room) was perfect with a double soaker tub and seperate shower, nice linens etc. Actually found the nightside lights (which reflect little stars onto the ceiling) quite charming and ok to read by. The flat screen tv is positioned perfectly to view from the bed, which was great as we wanted to watch our Canucks one of the nights. The big shortfall for me was in the hotel's HVAC system. Similar to many big hotels, the heating and cooling system is centralized and pumped into the room via fans. I found the constant humming to be rather annoying and not conducive to creating the 'peace and quiet' we were looking for. Other than that, this place is aces - which includes the waterfront restaurant; our meal was one of the best I've had in over a year (and we are self confessed foodies).

  • Liked — Waterfront view, new modern design, lux bathrooms, spa, restaurant
  • Disliked — Noisy heating and cooling system

We stayed four nights in this very new facility. In some ways, its chic, modern style is incongruous with the rest of the rest of the small town, which seems to have a decidedly geriatric populace (apparently Sidney is a known retirement destination).

My spouse and I came here on a long weekend with the specific purpose of "doing nothing", other than reading, taking walks, and generally lazing around. The hotel was well suited to this. It is located on the water, at the end of the main street, and a few steps from the shoreline walk.

We had a "Promenade King" room (see pics) which was quite comfortable and immaculately clean. My only (minor) complaint would be that the lighting was a little dark, making reading somewhat a challenge after sunset. We mentioned this to the front desk, and they knew of this problem and were working to fix it.

We dined one night at their restaurant -- and enjoyed it very much. They do the "local, seasonal" thing well, and the service was enthusiastic.

If next in Sidney, I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for Business it was amazing. Only cost me 110 a night and the room was beautiful, I even had an ocean view on the deck. I would expect to to pay around 250 for a room that I stayed in. Best hotel in Victoria area I had to do work in Downtown Victoria but I chose to stay out here because its so nice. Amazing setting too!
