Owner description: Established in 1971, the Sidney Museum has served the community of Sidney and North Saanich since then. Run by the Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums, the museum promotes awareness of local heritage through exhibits, programs, and collections. Its permanent collection consists of over 6000 items. In addition to its permanent exhibits, the museum also features rotating monthly exhibits. These temporary exhibits include everything from an annual Quilting display, a Teddy Bear Christmas Display, and of course the famous 3-month long Lego Exhibit. The Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums is a non-profit organization, and the Museum is open to the public by donation.

“A hidden treasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

The museum is a treasure trove of all things Sidney since it's inception. The exhibits are informative and well staged. Also visit the seawalk to read the descriptive panels which also promote the town's legacy.

The museum is wheelchair accessible for handi-capable guests. They also host a great Lego exhibit each year and our grandson was captivated by it.

“SMALL BUT ITNERESTIN”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

I may be a bit harsh in saying average. It is not a large museum but for those with an interest in the history of the Saanich Peninsula and the Town of Sidney, it does give considerable insight in to the hostory of the local area.

“wonderful small museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

We visited during the Lego exhibit and while that was certainly entertaining I was pleasantly surprised to experience the more traditional side of the museum. Love the displays set up all throughout. Thanks for teaching me so much about the history of this amazing town.

“Super Lego displays and fun search”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

My grandsons and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lego models currently on display at the Sidney Museum and happily search the displays to complete the Treasure Hunt, finding all the listed models, even the difficult ones. It was really nice that the museum is by donation only making return trips entirely possible. After enjoying the Museum displays, we started the Treasure Hunt throughout the town of Sidney. What a dellightful way to keep children engaged and get to explore the various stores in town. We didn't manage to get to all the stores, so will certainly be going back both to the museum and to complete the Treasure Hunt before the end date.
