Staff not as knowledgable about Sandman's rewards program. I had a cars for the 13 day stay and then get one night free. I asked for my 2 nights to get stamped on my card, but I was told I had to register online first. So I was told to call or register when I get home, and I asked if the 2 nights could be put on my card once I leave, and I was told, "I dont know, ask them". Well I get home and NO you do not have to register online, all you had to do was give them the card to fill in for the 2 nights.
We were there for 2 nights, and there were not a whole lot of people staying there for the lack of cars in the parking lot, but yet our room did not get cleaned inbetween the 2 nights.
The continental breakfast was the usual, better than nothing. The 3 machinesand the free weights in the gym were okay. Looks like there is construction happening for a pool, I dont know if it was there before, but there is one there now, but under construction.
The rooms were your average hotel rooms, we had one with 2 beds. There is a bar fridge, microwave and a coffeemaker with cupboards and a sink in the same area. The sink was a nice feature so that we did not need to track to the washroom to get water for the coffeemaker. The beds were comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side of building may be quieter, but ask for a higher room.

We stayed one night, rather than the more expensive Whistler. Price with all taxes in was $104. Room was very clean. There was evidence in the hotel that LARGE groups of young people (sports teams?) were also staying here. I suspect that the low prices probably attract groups such as sports teams, which might lead to occasional rowdy sounds in the halls. (Be aware of this possibility when booking!!!) Nevertheless, our stay was quiet.

My only complaint was the excessive time to check in. This was the cheapest hotel on our 10 day trip, but required the most extensive identification procedure. They did everything but take DNA samples. This is ironic, considering our $420 hotel a few nights earlier simply took our credit card info and handed us our keys. Come on, Sandman, a couple of 60+ year old tourists in a luxury vehicle aren't going to trash your room.

Breakfast here was included, but was minimal. Only muffins, toast, cheap cold cereals, yogurt and coffee. NO protein. This did not matter to us, because at this price we did not expect breakfast.

Had a CONFIRMED/UPDATED reservation for two rooms for eight people on Aug 20... but reservation was not honored. Never ever knew that they took over the property from the previous owner. Turnover should have been properly managed! Our reservation for 2 rooms were confirmed way back May 2011. The travelling party of eight was left with no rooms as the hotel did not accommodate as they were full. Such a disgrace! Greatly inconvenienced! Had to fight for our rights... finally squeezed for one room but still... they did not honor the confirmed room rate! Disgusting!!! What a joke!!!! The other party of four had to look for another hotel... ended up in Whistler... 30miles away!!! The hotel should know that customers are the lifeblood of their existence!!! They should have known better... how to best handle a turnover and how to best treat a customer. SHAME ON THEM! Go back to basics!!! If there are any more customers who have been in the same situation, kindly share your experience, too. Everyone should know about this.

We were in town for the Live at Squamish and hoped to enjoy a family-filled weekend of shows and being outdoors in beautiful Squamish and its mountains.
We had one room with 2 Queen beds. Roomy, clean and new (large bathroom) and had a kitchen sink, fridge and microwave.
Front desk staff helpful. Recommended eating dinner at Sushi Sen up the road. Really impressed, coming from Vancouver where there's sushi everywhere. This place was delicious from what we picked and a hot spot for sure.
Only complaint is Manager is unprofessional, she could use an overview on hospitality service and treating of guests.

We had used Priority Club points to book a 2 night stay at Holiday Inn Express in Squamish, BC. Actually planned our itinerary around this particular hotel's availability and booked months in advance. On the day that we arrived at the hotel, we learned that the property had been sold 2 days prior to our arrival. The name had been changed and the new owners (Sandman Corp.) did not want to honor our reservation. After some tense moments and rather emphatic conversation with the manager, they agreed to honor our reservation as booked with HIX. Lesson learned: Hotels can change ownership overnight and then all prior reservations are subject to change!
