Awesome joint. Looking for a killer meal and some good vibes, check this place out. Only ever had the breakfasts here but they are awesome. In need of a hearty meal before or after a day crushing out in the nature? Look no further. Coffees good too.

If you happen to have worked up a big appetite...

(In our case... fishing the local rivers all day)

The Pastrami sandwich is crazy satisfying. (Or do they call it a Reuben... I forget either way... it's WORTHY of a drive up from Vancity. It's pretty epic with perfect bread, meat PICKLE (order extra!!!) & a crunchy sweet sauerkraut...

Big D's can get pretty busy This last visit... I wasn't thrilled with their "oh just sit anywhere you can find clean..." - meanwhile no one is busing any tables... BUT... the servers quickly make up for that by getting the order placed & bringing out great food.

You'd expect Guy Fieri to drop in & give this place the thumbs up.
Nom nom nom...

After spending some time at the Sea to Sky Gondola and Summit on this Sunday afternoon, we decided to head into Squamish for a late lunch. After asking a local on places to eat, we decided to come here. It was past 1:00 and the restaurant was about 3/4 full.

We ordered the following:
• Cajun chicken wrap with mixed greens, house made salsa, avocado, roast garlic mayo in a cheese wrap with a green salad and balsamic vinegar dressing ($14.95)
• Big D’s burger ($15.25) – with bacon, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions, roasted garlic mayo on a bun served with French fries.

The burger includes a chicken option and the choice of 3 fillings, the above and including fried egg, avocado, chutney, cheddar cheese or brie. You can also add extra fillings for $.50 each.

The burger is described as “spiced 8 ounce” patty. I thought the burger patty lacked seasoning as it didn’t have any flavour; the flavour was imparted from the other ingredients. The burger was nothing spectacular but it was still an okay burger.

My spouse had the chicken wrap – not too spicy; just average.

The total bill was $31.71 before tips.

The service was fairly efficient except the food in my opinion took longer than expected to arrive.

Ratings Breakdown
• Food / Quality – burger patty lacked flavour and an average wrap. 3.25 out of 5 rating.
• Value – Price is on par with other restaurants’ burgers with patty bigger than normal and I thought the wrap was on the expensive side. 3 out of 5 rating.
• Service – Service was above average but I wish our server would at least smile. 3.5 out of 5 rating.
• Ambience – Typical diner atmosphere. 3+ out of 5 rating.

The overall rating is 3.25 out of 5 – average.

Notes and Tips:
• Kids at Heart menu has smaller portions for those with lighter appetites.
• Seating for 50 or more persons. There were 2 table outside on the street.
• Regular diner menu with the usual assortment of sandwiches, wraps and a breakfast menu served from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. No eggs Benedict on the menu.
• Restaurant is located on the main street – Cleveland Avenue.
• Unisex washroom; wheelchair access would be difficult if not impossible

The service was good and the food was OK, maybe a bit expensive for what you got. Would have been nice if the internet was available to everyone not just people with Shaw, not very useful for people visiting

It's a homely looking family restaurant. The tea cozy on the kettle was cute. Food came out super fast but I wished it didn't so that my potatoes would be cooked. They were stuck together and undercooked and with minimal flavour. Didn't even eat them, what a waste. Coffee was also very light which is not how coffee is meant to be. Just okay.
