“A gem in the heart of Truro”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely, roomy, cozy home during a weekend conference. My room was comfortable and perfect to sit and chat with a couple of friends. Each morning, a delicious breakfast was served in high style, homemade muffins, fruit salad and a yummy main dish. Darcy and Ann are warm and considerate hosts, and the house has a great feeling of life about it, with comfy sitting areas and even crystal wine glasses on hand. It was almost across the road from the Holiday Inn conference center and we could walk to all amenities, but we had a feeling of being away from it all. Will definitely go back.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Lullabye room, which had a couple of comfy chairs for hanging out with friends.

We found ourselves en route from Ingonish on the Cabot Trail trying to reach Halifax in one day. After a few stops we figured out that we had run out of time. The TI in Truro put us onto this B & B in Truro which was a bonus. Dave the father-in-law/grandfather to the owners handles most of the load while Darcy and Ann are off teaching. The house is 100+ years old and has three suites with ensuite bathrooms. The breakfast was eggs florentine......very very good. There were fresh juices and granola also. Service was excellent and Dave provided us with lots on onward travel information including a walk in Truro's Victoria Park and and directions to a lookout for the famous "Tidal Bore" created by the tides in the Bay of Fundy. Truro makes a good stop if you decide to head west to Port Royal/Wolfville or south to Halifax and the South Shore. I highly recommend the Belgravia. Dinner options are limited in Truro but the Bistro in the nearby Holiday Inn was a surprise. It was very good as was the service.

We had a lovely stay at Belgravia. Ann and Darcy and Ann's Dad couldn't have been more welcoming. The house is beautiful as well as being spotless. Our room was warm and cozy with a private bath. All of the amenities were available. We arrived from Lubec Maine after a long day's drive in the rain. Ann made us some welcoming coffee which we enjoyed in the living room before we settled into our room. Ann's Dad served us breakfast. He was most gracious. It was a very nice meal with yogurt , fresh strawberries, homemade orange cranberry muffins, granola and eggs florentine. We would not hesitate to return to Belgravia .

We only stayed for one night but it was a wonderful stay nonetheless. We'd booked very last minute, arrived late and interrupted the host's son's birthday party unknowingly - but were still welcomed so very warmly by the affectionate hosts! Their home is just beautiful and we felt really comfortable in the double room - a little bit on the small side but impeccably clean, just gorgeous and the bathroom was lovely and quite generous. The host's parents served a very delicious, lovely presented breakfast the next morning - and they've got so much information and tips about the area to share, it's amazing and we highly appreciated them taking so much time to make sure we knew all about the nicest spots near Cape Breton. We would love to come back and very highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

This was the best breakfast we had during our trip to Nova Scotia. Darcy and Ann are wonderful people and hosts. We were welcomed like part of the family. We booked all three rooms. They were all very beautiful and clean, although one was a little small and made getting into our suitcases difficult. We would definitely return and wish we could have stayed longer than one night.

Recently stayed at this charming B&B that is owned by a nice couple that gave us a warm and friendly welcome. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and bedding was wonderful. The owners did not miss a thing. In the morning they served us a delicious breakfast in an elegant dining room complete with crystal, china dishes and silverware. This was our very first experience with a B&B and they made it a positive one. It was close to the Tidal Bore and a beautiful park.
