Tulips and Thistle Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 6 Truro B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Ann and Larry are the most gracious and accommodating hosts of Tulips and Thistle B&B who made us feel that our space was a home away from home. Breakfast, made to order, was delicious and the conversation regarding sites to see and things to do in the area was very helpful. Our room was spotless and the fixtures most up-to-date of the several accommodations we visited on our trip to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. Larry was very responsive to our call for "homing-in" guidance as our GPS was wanting from time to time on our trip to Canada.

We loved everything, from the warm welcome to the goodbye hugs. We had a beautiful large room, comfortable bed, and a scrumptious breakfast. Ann and Larry are wonderful hosts. They shared information and maps, and even had some suggestions for July 1st celebrations.
We hated to leave.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Master Suite with the spa tub. It had lots of natural light, beautiful plants, and...

T and T truly was like a home away from home. Truro itself was so centrally located that it was an ideal place to stay for several days as a base, taking several day trips. Met lovely people every morning at breakfast (and WHAT a breakfast it was!) and enjoyed pleasant chat. We were told to make ourselves at home and took advantage of the spacious living room and phenomenal porch. Bedroom was very comfortable as was the private bath. Not only were the proprietors friendly and great cooks, but they were so knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions of things to do, places to go, and even how to get there--providing highlighted maps no less. Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others.

The innkeepers were so welcoming when we arrived! Our room was lovely and the breakfast was one of the best we had on the trip (love that stuffed french toast!). We met several nice people in the lounge and at breakfast the next morning, and the atmosphere really lent itself to interacting with the others. Thanks for a good time.

We arrived late and wanted a place not too far from Halifax airport and en route to Cape Breton. Turned out to be a great choice and we stayed again on the way out. Choice of breakfasts and chef's choice was a wonderful surprise. Very adaptable to our schedule and very friendly atmosphere. Huge living room encourages chat with other guests.

Room Tip: No swimming pool or fitness center but if you check the first circle it says terrible and could not...

This B and B is by far one of the best we stayed at. The hosts treat you like family and even take orders for breakfast. At breakfast time they encourage discussion with fellow travelers and even sit down with you and join the conversation! It is alitttle out of the way and there is not many things to do in the immediate area but it is well worth the drive! Our hostess even helped us order a pizza after our long drive because we were too tired to go out and then she shared her living room and plates and whatever else we needed!

We planned this as a one day stay at the end of a three week long trip including one week in Nova Scotia before flying home to Arizona. It turned out to be one of the nicest plays we stayed during our travels. The hosts were welcoming and helpful - -they directed us to a very nice park for a walkabout in Truro (Victoria Park) and then on to where the tide enters at the end of the Bay of Fundy. The room itself was excellent, a good nights rest and then the next morning we had an excellent breakfast before driving off to the Halifax airport. This was an excellent end to our vacation. Our thanks to Larry and Ann for a lovely last day in Nova Scotia.
