What is poutine? Yummy. Try it. Lazy afternoon stop for some comfort food and beer. Well done. Not fancy but just right for what we needed. Why do we need to write 100 characters?

A spacious pub with a friendly atmosphere greeted us. We were hungry and the place was empty except for staff. It was early afternoon and lunch was over. Beer battered fish and chips were OK, not great. Service was wonderful.

We were fortunate enough to be there on a Tuesday night for music by Tim Bowers and Robin McQuarrie. According to Tim, they are there every Tuesday. Songs by Gordon Lightfoot and others were much to our liking. Tim is a fine singer and Robin is an extraordinary guitarist. If the Gordon Lightfoot genre is to your liking, you will really enjoy the visit. We stayed much longer than we had intended. We didn't want to get up until they took a break, but they kept playing on and we kept our seats!

I ordered the special, haddock in a lobster sauce and what arrived did not remotely resemble a lobster sauce. Turns out the cook had put bearnaise sauce on the fish by mistake. Unfortunately it appeared more than likely that the sauce had been put on and then the whole thing microwaved as it did not appear like a free flowing sauce and the fish not really fresh. The waitress did adjust the price from $22 down to $18 but that was still way too much and I won't be coming back again in the foreseeable future.

Surprisingly hip bar for rather unhip Truro. Great selection of beers on tap, including some in-house brews, decent pub food, and very un-(60s,70s,80s) type music. Outdoor patio is right in what passes for the main drag. Not what I have come to expect in Truro (and that's a good thing).
