“Friendly hosts and great breakfasts!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2011

We have stayed with Ruth and Gerry quite a few times now and always enjoy their hospitality. The rooms are very comfortable and have plenty of supplies; the bathrooms are well equipped and have wonderful handmade soaps for guest use. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable! Each night there is dessert and coffee or tea, and some good conversation with the hosts. They are a wealth of information about Nova Scotia, and we have yet to "trip them up" on an area they don't know about! Gerry has stained glass work throughout the house, along with some items that may be purchased. The breakfast is wonderful, and you won't go away hungry! They do have a dog, but he doesn't go upstairs to the guest area. He is well behaved, and we really enjoyed him while we visited. We missed our pets and he filled the void while we were away! My husband and I highly recommend the Suncatcher Bed and Breakfast if you are in the Truro area.

Room Tip: They only have two rooms, both are wonderful and each has its own bathroom. Each room has a ceiling...

After making our reservation we received a lovely handwritten note from Ruth which we so appreciated. She included a helpful map and a suggestion for an interesting site to see along the way. Both hosts were wonderfully helpful, and the homemade pie & coffee the evening of our arrival was superb. A delicious "to go" breakfast was graciously packed for us since we needed to leave early. It was perfect!

Spent one night at Suncatchers B&B on my way from PEI to Halifax. Ruth and Gerry are real Maritimers - friendly and welcoming.
My room - Cobequid- was very comfortable, had all the amenities of a boutique hotel with a sitting area, private bath, a very comfortable bed and lots of little extras..Could have stayed longer.
Breakfast was great, Ruth is a wonderful cook.
Ask to see Gerry's stain glass and needlework, he's very talented.
Recommend a stay here for anyone looking for a friendly place to spend some time.

We were planning ahead for the evening and found this wonderful B&B in the Doers & Dreamers Nova Scotia travel book. Ruth gave us good directions to find her place and greeted us with fresh cake and coffee on our late arrival. The rooms were beautifully furnished with comfortable beds and an extremely well stocked bathroom. Both guest rooms are on the upper floor giving you some privacy. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and afterwards, we were giving the opportunity to see Gerry's workshop and some of his artistic stained glass work. Ruth was very knowledgable about the area and offered suggested routes and destinations based on our questions. The only suggestion that I would make is that her advertisement makes note of her newest 4-legged addition as some people are happier in a pet-free home.

Room Tip: Doers & Dreamers book is a wonderful resource

We stayed 4 days at "Suncatcher B&B". We were greeted warmly by hosts . Accomodation was wonderful - supper was appreciated, breakfast was generous and delicious. We were given much information about Nova scotia, including maps, menus of local restaurants, places of interest to visit. We loved the evening conversations - it felt like being a special visitor. Our hosts were welcoming and kind in so many ways. We would love to stay again some time in the future

Ruth and Gerry's Suncatcher B&B is located an easy 45 min. drive from the Halifax airport. We arrived late, around 11:30 p.m., but Ruth and Gerry greeted us with dessert and decaf coffee and tea.
Our rooms were very comfortable and clean. Each room has its own, very nice bathroom.
The delicious breakfast was freshly prepared by Ruth each morning.
They gave us helpful suggestions on what to see on our first day in Nova Scotia. Their B&B is in a good location for a day trip to see the tidal bore or to go explore toward Advocate Harbor.
We returned late after our day of exploring but they were still up with another scrumptious dessert!
Before we left the next morning we had a tour of Gerry's stain glass workshop in the basement. He does amazing, beautiful work!
We would highly recommend The Suncatcher!

This is a pleasant surprise, in a quiet neighbourhood. Gerry and Ruth are friendly hosts, with lots of information regarding local places to eat and attractions to visit.
