“1st Bread & Breakfast”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Our first bread and breakfast experience was a very good one. The room was very spacious and clean, we had a great night's sleep . Breakfast was amazing, blueberry pancakes and as a bonus they made gluten free pancakes for my wife. Highly recommended.

Myself and my wife stayed at the Monastery a few days ago and I have to compliment Barrie and Madeleine for their excellent hospitality.

Our bedroom was spacious and there was a guest sitting room also. Breakfast was amazing! Barrie and Madeleine served us breakfast in their kitchen at their own table. We had a great chat about all things Canada - particularly places we'd been and where we were going to. Their dog is really friendly too.

The Monastery is only 10mins walk from the town centre and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bracebridge

Room Tip: They have 3 rooms to choose from. we always take the Sadler in case I snore I can move to the second...

The Monastery b&b in Bracebridge is unusual, in terms of the spacious suites, beautiful woodsy environs, and excellent breakfast. The owners have created a very well thought through, and very considerate, establishment. Highly recommended.

As we live in a hundred year old rectory in Wales, UK, we thought it was only fitting that we should stay in The Monastery, Bracebridge, during our brief trip to the area. We did not book in advance but called from a tourist centre outside town. Within an hour we were being warmly welcomed by Barry and Madeline - and of course their friendly dog, Abbot. We were only there for one night but had a great stay with breakfast being taken in the homely family kitchen overlooking the woods.

This is our 4th visit her in 7 years with another couple, we sometimes travel with. We cannot say anything bad about The Monastery. It has history and that's what we like.
Barry and Madeline are excellent host's."can't forget Abbot"
The breakfast each time is always exciting and different. There are 3 suites, 2 of them have 2 bedrooms, all have en-suites.
We love staying here and would highly recommend it to anyone.

If you ever want to stay in Bracebridge overnight, The Monastery is the place. We stayed for two nights in the private downstairs two-bedroom suite because one of us has problem with stairs. A three-piece ensuite bath was included. The tub was accessible enough for the one with the disability. One bedroom had a queen-size bed; the other, which we used for a sitting-room, had a double. The ambience of the whole place was exquisite, especially the common area wth its comfortable antique furniture and fireplace. We enjoyed both delicious breakfasts in the dining room with a table that looked to be set for royalty. Barrie and Abbot were two very welcoming hosts. Both the neighbourhood and The Monastery itself are very quiet - nice to come 'home' to after a very busy day. All in all a very fine experience.
