We had booked at Touchstone 5 months ago for first week in August-have relatives coming from England & Vancouver..we were told last week that our unit had been sold & our reservation/deposit had been cancelled..then they found us another unit & then yesterday cancelled that one...now with 4 days to go until our relatives arrive, we have nowhere to go & everything else is fully booked...

Thank you for your response. We offer our apology in that your booking could not be accommodated. The past property owner sold the last of the developers inventory which created a challenge as the new condo owners were entitled to use their unit. We acknowledge this process could have been organized in a more orderly fashion.

The property has recently been purchased and is under new management and ownership.

We look forward to reaching you to offer a future opportunity to visit. We realize your plans were made with people travelling from many points and this will not make up for the challenge of overbooking, however we offer this in good faith.

Again, our sincere apology is extended to you.

Touchstone is the perfect cross between a resort and a cottage. It has the amenities of a resort - spa, fine dining, helpful congeries services, with well-decorated rooms and facilities you normally associate with upscale cottage living. The pool, beach and dock were never crowded and you could take out a canoe, paddle boat and kayak at your leisure. Unlike other places, there were no additional or hidden charges to use the boats or waterfront.

The only drawback is that our kids found it too quiet! They felt self-conscious making noise in the pool and missed water activities like a trampoline and slide.

If you're looking for a cottage getaway, Touchstone is the place!

We really enjoyed our stay at Touchstone. I got lost on the way over but was able to get better directions when I called them directly. Their address was not on my GPS. Once we got there, check-in was easy and the lady at the front desk was friendly. There is a self-serve luggage cart which was helpful. Our 2 bedroom room was very nice and clean. It had a full kitchen (with dishes, glasses, cutlery and cookware) and 2 bathrooms as well as a balcony and covered outdoor eating area. The view from our suite was excellent. The pool was nice. The beach area was also very satisfactory (perfect for our 2 year old son). The restaurant looked nice but we did not have a chance to try it (because we were travelling with 2 infants). The resort was not over-crowded. On one occasion, our family had the entire swimming pool area to ourselves. We used the barbecue (a Weber Genesis) to cook dinner on our second night and it was great. Check-out was fast and hassle-free. Overall, we were very satisfied with the property and the staff. We would definitely recommend it to all of our friends (but hope that it does not become too popular, if you know what I mean).

Thank you so much for making our wedding so perfect!

Touchstone on Lake Muskoka was the first and only venue that we looked at when finding a venue, as we fell in love immediately. Our initial interaction with Jo-Anne Young, Event Manager was unforgettable. From the planning stage to the day itself, Jo-Anne was extremely helpful. After several meetings, we realized that we could not have asked for a better Wedding Planner. The events leading up to the wedding were flawless.

Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and our guests were pleased. We were not treated like another client/number/event. Jo-Anne made us feel as if she was planning a wedding for her family member or best friend.

Our wedding ceremony and reception was exactly what our dreams were made of when it came to this day. Everything from our beautiful dock ceremony, cocktails in the Boathouse and exquisite customized wedding dinner are just a few of the elements that made our day memorable forever, for all of the right reasons!

Our guests were absolutely blown away by everything, as were the two of us. Our wedding was just perfect and we have pictures and memories to prove it.Touchstone on Lake Muskoka made our wedding dreams come true and for that, we thank you beyond any words could ever describe. We look forward to coming back to the Resort in the future for various special occasions and will definitely be recommending Touchstone to anyone and everyone we possibly can who needs a true piece of heaven in Muskoka for their special day!

Room Tip: The large suites and villas are perfect for family and friend gatherings and rehearsal dinner.

Between late 2012 and early 2013, we made 3 calls to Touchstone to investigate their resort as a potential weekend getaway. The first 2 calls were extremely cumbersome. We were only trying to find out what kind of resort it was and the person on the phone could not really explain it to us. They made us feel as if we were annoying them. We wanted to know whether it was merely a timeshare or was it truly a resort hotel. We could not clearly establish that. We did establish that the preference was for functions and only at the beginning of the year would they consider resort reservations. In January 2013 we were able to make a reservation for August but still did not know quite what to expect when we got there. The property looked good but why so much ambiguity.

On June 16th, between 12PM and 1PM we were travelling home from a Port Severn resort and we thought that we might preview Touchstone. When we arrived, we went to the Front Desk and asked if it might be possible to take a look at a room so that we could assess the style of resort and amenities. The person at the Front Desk had difficulty handling that request. When we persisted a little since we had driven a long way, she went to see someone in an office visible from the Front Desk. She spoke with her for a few minutes and on her return, indicated that this sales person would give us a tour and would be right with us. The person kept looking at us and while we waited we walked through the Dining Room. After several minutes of waiting, the person had not moved from the desk but kept looking out at us. Once again we were made to feel as if we were annoying them. We finally just left the resort. No one said anything and no one assisted us. We felt that total environment to be uncomfortable and unfriendly.

On our return home to Toronto, we cancelled the reservation. That was 4 instances of uncomfortable, unfriendly and unclear communications from a resort where we would spend a lot of money for what would be classed as a deluxe weekend stay and expect to have a relaxing getaway. We cannot imagine it happening there. We usually do not complain but rather compliment service at hotels and resorts. We stay in hotels 30 – 35 nights a year.

We held our wedding at Touchstone and we absolutely loved the resort!

The customer service at Touchstone is excellent. We live in Australia and Jo-Anne was a huge help planning our event, accommodating the time-difference for our phone meetings, sending me lots of photos, and was quick to respond to my countless emails. Pascale was excellent in managing our guests' accommodation, and we had several guests traveling from South Africa, for whom Pascale wrote each a letter, confirming their hotel reservation for their travel visa application.

We rented all four of the Grand Muskokan cottages for the weekend, which are hidden away from the main lodge, and hosted our BBQ style rehearsal dinner there, complete with a bonfire by the lake. The Grand Muskokan was also perfect for my bridesmaids to get ready together, with a large living/dining area for having our hair/makeup done.

Rain prevented us from having our ceremony on the lake dock, but the new boat house was the ideal backup, and was simply beautiful with it's large windows and stunning view. Afterwards guests enjoyed cocktails on the deck, while watching the bridal party having photos taken on the lake dock below.

The resort's dining room, Taste, has beautiful dark wood decor and was the ideal size for our 65 guests. The food & wine were delicious, and the bar was conveniently next to the dance floor so the girls had no trouble pulling the boys out for a dance.

Many of our guests stayed for the weekend which allowed my husband and I time to catchup with everyone we haven't seen in years. We rented a speedboat to go wake boarding, and we also went fishing, swimming, canoeing, and played beach volleyball.

I highly recommend Touchstone and my husband and I can't wait to spend a weekend alone there together the next time we're visiting Toronto.

First things first -- I did not even bother to book here. I called their main line to get information on the best way to arrange a stay for 2 families. The person on the telephone was not helpful at all. Getting information from her was like pulling teeth. Her attitude was almost like "we're so popular anyway, come if you want but if you don't we won't be missing your business."

Totally thumbs down. Will not be even considering booking here in the future.
