Touchstone is a resort in a beautiful setting.

Unfortunately, the attitude from the woman on the front desk is unbelievable and the service is awful. I had trouble booking because she indicated she did not have three rooms available and I really felt she could care less whether we booked. So my cottage friends went over and booked a nice two bedroom suite for a two night stay and I cancelled a room at Taboo. When we went to check in (with my friends tagging along) she literally yells "I hope you don't think you are all staying in there". Breakfast arrives as a pretty disgusting box in the fridge because the "breakfast room isn't open when there are not enough people staying at the resort".
After a day out, we came back at 4:00 to find the suite being cleaned. At 8 the next morning, I head to reception (and for a change there was actually someone there-same rude woman) to see if I can extend a checkout from 11 to 11:30. Oh but check out is 10 and she will need 10 minutes to check if someone is coming in the unit. Meanwhile the resort is literally empty in the middle of July.
I went back upstairs and asked the others to checkout by 10 as my son and I headed out for 9 holes of golf.
Next time I'll stay in a place that actually wants my $520 a night.

This is a treasure for those looking for peace, beauty and tranquillity in the heart of Muskoka. We recently stayed at touchstone in a 2 bedroom cottage overlooking the lake. The accommodation is spacious, superb and tastefully appointed with care and consideration for your every need. There is a personal barbecue on the balcony and the views are breathtaking. It's like having a luxurious cottage without having to do it all yourself. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can cook as you like or eat in the restaurant downstairs. We engaged mainly in the former option, barbecuing as we liked on our own private balcony. there was even a section of the balcony screened off from insects from insects where you could enjoy outdoor meals without the interruption of insects at dusk. The is the best and most relaxing accommodation we have ever stayed in the area. it's more private and less bustling than the Marriott Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa and the staff are more considerate and attentive. The view is even more spectacular at Touchstone without having to pay a premium for a small space over looking the lake. I experienced their spa and would highly recommend a Swedish massage with Vicky the registered massage therapist. She is outstanding! The Sunday brunch is wonderful too. We will definitely return to Touchstone!

Room Tip: 2 bedroom lake view cottages are spectacular. Our room was in the main section of the hotel on the s...

Staying at Touchstone makes owning a cottage seem unnecessary. Touchstone has all of the perks and none of the trouble - the accommodations, setting, service and food are outstanding. It's quiet, relaxing and comfortable. There is also a lot to do. Unlike other resorts they do not charge you for using the boats, making it an ideal location for a family getaway.

VERY disappointed after calling and inquiring about the hours for the dining room and spa and being told that both were open for busness and that we did not need reservations, only to arrive and find the spa CLOSED and reservations are a must. We did have lunch, food is delicious, however the service from the gentleman that served us was rude and very rushed.

We stopped by for a one night stay at Touchstone on our way through Bracebridge. The staff were considerate and accommodating. Rooms were on the small side but very modern and luxurious - definitely not your run of the mill Muskoka accommodations! Price tag was a little high, but the views from the dock were great and it was a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. We would stay here again.

Relatives of ours our owners and kindly gave us their unit for the weekend. It's not our first time here but each time it's the same amazing experience.

Pros:
-amazingly beautiful rooms. Ultra modern and luxury amenities. Infloor heating, jucizzi tub, fireplace, bbq and more. Everything u could need available. (we were in a 3 bdrm unit on the beach)
- winter muskoka wonderland. Skating. Bonfire. deer sightings. Hot tub. Lots of outdoor stuff to do
- great kids amenities. Great park jungle gym. Skating. Open spaces. Rooms are very safe for toddlers. Really nothing for them to get into. Play pens available
-great location close to grocery stores and restaurants
-brunch buffet (experienced at a different visit) was amazing. Service excellent.
- overall relaxing

Could be better :
- pool for winter months or more outdoor activities? horse shoes? Games room perhaps?Activity centre

- the open big windows in the master bath are lovely but an optional curtain for night time showers and toilet visits would be nice for privacy :)

-would be nice to see some more people up here but I bet that will change in time

- main entrance to resort is not very visible. Be careful not to miss it
