Our family discovered the breakers 4 yrs ago and have been fortunate enough
to visit every August for a week. We love the simplicity of the motel while at the same time
having the shops and restaurants a mere stroll away. On a warm summer's night with all
the volleyball nets set up and the sun setting you feel as though you are somewhere down south. It's a family tradition that the children wait in anticipation of every year. We've truly fallen in love with Cobourg after all these years of staying at the breakers.

This is one of those places that you hesitate about reviewing on here in case it gets so crowded that you can never manage to get a room in the future.

Room 8 had a lovely view of the (snow-covered) beach, a gas fire, and (toaster, coffee machine, microwave, crockery etc. The room was nice and cosy in winter (though we never did find out where the heat came from!) and the balcony would be great in summer - so good that we immediately booked ourselves in again for September.

It's comfortable, clean and quiet and steps away from Cobourg's main street - plenty of good food and drink on offer there. Free wireless internet worked well, too - and there's a video player with the TV.

Booked two rooms here with our 3 small children and the grandparents after a stay in Toronto. Very nice beach on Lake Ontario and found the water to be really clean. Water temp in early Sept was about 65-70 and kids were able to swim. There is a city park next door with a playground and downtown Cobourg is within a few blocks of the motel. There are picnic tables, Weber grills, and lots of shady green grassy areas. Very kid friendly, or a quiet place to relax if you prefer. Saw lots of shops and several restaurants along King St downtown. Ordered out at the Golden Chopsticks Japanese along Rte 2 West and the food was excellent.

We tried several times to stay here and we finally did last friday night. If your looking for peace and quiet and a really solid, well built, well decorated room, this is it. Our room #3 was at a rate of $95 including tax. It had 2 double beds, a kitchenette with sink, fridge, dinnerware, microwave and decent bathroom. There are other loft rooms with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a jacuzzi tub and kitchen for $140. Call ahead to be sure they have availability. In the off-season I'm sure they are much less busy but the Cobourg area is really quaint and I would recommend this as a year round accommodation. Front desk staff are very nice, lots of towels in the bathroom, had a nice meal at the local pub.It was easy to get the right temperature in the room, I don't remember if I saw a hairdryer? No DMF! I would definately stay here again.
