We went to Cochrane, Ontario, to board the Polar Bear Express train to Moosonee and Moose Factory Island. This is an area of predominately native Cree Indians. The train( or sea plane ) are the only way there as there are no roads in. The Ecolodge on the Island is very nice although they do have to improve there supply of hot water. The side trip tours were over priced and in general they were not well explained. If the native operators did more to explain their culture and how they live, work & play it would have been great. Those who got to talk to George and his father were impressed. I am sure there are many others also. The train ride(~190 miles) provided a good lunch on the way up and a great dinner on the way back. The bathroom facilities need some improvement, they flush directly onto the tracks - might make you a bit squeamish if you are canoeing on a river as the train goes overhead.
