The Gecko has moved back to its original location on Balsam/Hwy 26 after a few years downtown. The food continues to delight. When ordering we always make a point of mentioning that we are not afraid of heat or spice and prefer authentic Thai to 'thai for white folks' that is often served up at other restaurants. If you find the menu overwhelming the servers can help get it down to a more manageable size with a few key questions about your preferences. We get to C'wood a couple times a year and the is a MUST food stop for us. Closed Mondays while Chef takes a trip to markets in TO to restock.

We had a hankering for Thai on our last visit to Collingwood but there are only two Thai restaurants apparently in town to choose from. So we decided to try this one. Well when we walked in I was surprised by a few things. The first thing that grabbed my attention was almost all the tables were full! The restaurant itself is quite dated in terms of decor, the menus need to be updated as offerings are scribbled out, and you won't dine in privacy (as the space is limited)...BUT the staff is super friendly, helpful and the food is plentiful and delicious. I would say that if you are looking for authenticThai, this is the place for sure.

We love this restaurant...the food is always delicious. The tom yum soup is the best I've had. Family run, the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating.nreasonably priced as well.

My fiance and I are from out of town and we love Thai food. We saw this restaurant was busy at lunch, so we decided to try it for dinner. Big mistake. When we walked in, it smelled like hot grease. The young waitress (owner's granddaughter) was smiling and friendly, but we were completely ignored by the owner. When she went to speak with the only two other patrons and greet them, she only looked over at us. The waitress recommended the pad thai (which is my favourite) and we asked about a dish my fiance had at another restaurant and loved. The pad thai was bland and it was the wrong noodles. They were soggy and all broken. It was actually unappetizing. The dish she recommended for us was not what we described at all, it was also bland, and the beef in it looked gray and boiled.

The waitress never asked if we wanted anything to drink, either. We had to ask - after our food was served to us. The menu had a bunch of things scribbled out or crossed off with either marker or pen, and the atmosphere was really lacking. We definitely wouldn't go back, or recommend it at all.
