Mountain View Villas at Cranberry was everything we could have wanted for our ski vacation. The unit was clean and well-stocked. The people at the desk at Cranberry resort have always been very helpful at check in and whenever we have a question. We did not utilize the restaurant or facilities in the hotel but they looked fine. We have already booked to return in 2010.
The only suggestion I would make for the Villas is to add internet access. We stay for a week at a time and I have to hang out in the hotel lobby to get my online work done.

We stayed here one night as our friend was getting married on the resort. We were located in the main building in a standard room. If we were staying longer than one night, I think we would have actually checked out and tried somewhere else. We received a discount on the room as part of the wedding group, but even at the discounted rate of $150 it was not worth it, I can't imagine what the regular price is! The decor in the room is no better than a Super 8 or some other low grade motel. The bathroom had clumps of hair in the corner behind the door, so you know how well it was cleaned! The only plus was that the bed was comfortable. When we went for breakfast in the morning the staff seemed completely overwhelmed at the 4 tables that were there - even though it is a serve yourself buffet style so all they had to do was bring drinks. We had to wait for coffee and silverware to be brought over and the waiter seemed completely confused. Again, if we were staying in a low budget motel I would basically expect this type of service and decor, but not at a so called Resort.

I can't speak to other parts of this hotel, I know it's huge so perhaps there are better areas, but I would advise against staying in the main hotel portion unless they do some serious updating and staff training. Having said all that, I would like to say that the wedding location was beautiful by the water, and the service and food served were both amazing.

CranBerry Resort is very large resort in Collingwood. We booked a week thru RCI to stay in the Club Cranberry building. They call it a Studio sleep 2. Small room. Room was clean a bite outdated. Kinda like a cheap hotel room. Had a tv with dvd player. So bring movies if you want. It has a mini fridge, microwave and 2 burners. Only two of everything in the kitchen. And no pots or pans. Bathroom small just the basics. Our shower head was horrible, but atleast the water was hot. Enough towels for two. They do offer free laundry machine. But there is no maid service all week unless you want to pay for it.
Bedroom has 2 chairs and a table, and two couch chairs as well. The maitress was bad. They don't have king size beds. The resort itself is clean close to Blue Mountain. Staff overall are pretty friendly. The resort has pool inside and outside, games room, computer room, bar, restaurant, tennis courts etc. Just check out the website cranberryresorts.com. We ate dinner at Memories food was overpriced but very good. Excellent mussels. And the best waiter ever his name was Shawn. He made the best martini's. We ate Sunday Brunch as well overpriced just the basic food items. Nothing fancy. Overall good resort we are going agian next year. But I am never staying in a studio again. I booked a 1 bedroom with full kitchen more space ect.
hopefully this helps someone

We stayed here from December 12-18 on a timeshare exchange. Check in was very friendly and quick. I’m not sure if we stayed in a different hotel to other reviewers, but I think this resort is fine. However, they did try and persuade us into a timeshare meeting, but we had better things to do.
We had a two bedroom apartment. The apartment was lovely and clean. It had two bathrooms, one with a spa/Jacuzzi. The resort is only a few minutes’ drive from Blue Mountain ski resort and the town of Collingwood is well equipped with all kinds of major department stores and restaurants. There are two restaurants in the resort and both are quite good, bordering on a bit pricey though. The staff were friendly and willing to chat if they had a spare minute.
The resort also has an indoor and outdoor pool, a spa salon, health club, golf course and free laundry for guest use, which was a nice touch.
Note: There is a Scandinavian spa which is about 5 minutes drive from the resort. It has warm outside baths , 39 degrees C. For $45 for the day, you can spend all day going between the hot pool and the cool pool and the eucalyptus steam room – it is absolutely quiet and very relaxing. No talking, no mobile phones etc allowed. Apart from the Skiing at Blue mountain which is literally minutes away, the spa was a real highlight of the stay in Collingwood….and you get a 15% discount if you are a guest at the Cranberry resort! www.scandinaveblue.com

We stayed in a two bedroom harbourfront condo for the week starting Dec 5th (we had a guest pass from a friend who was a time share member). We were two couples and each had our private bathroom which was very handy - and the bedrooms were separated by the living room/dining room - this made it very private. The condo was built in 2007 and therefore is quite modern. The balcony overlooked the lake from the side of the building.

We cooked most meals in the condo and had all the dishes we needed - even a cheese grater! Housekeeping were very friendly and gave us extra hangers when we asked for them. The front desk made us feel welcome when we arrived and gave us all sorts of coupons to use during our stay (however, didn't use them).

There is a spa but - we didn't go to see it. It seemed a bit pricey. Also we didn't eat in the restaurant or bar - but it looked nice. We had one lunch at a very nice pub in the centre of town - Admiral's Post Pub. The indoor pool looked small and older - but we didn't use it so can't really comment.

The condo was convenient to the warerfront trails and we walked to Collingwood downtown to see the Santa Claus parade on Sunday. We explored the area around Collingwood - Blue Mountain village and went to Meaford. We hiked the Bruce trail above Blue Mountain - you get wonderful views of Georgian Bay. We also skiied at Highland Nordic.

I noticed a number of negative comments about the resort - but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the the Harbourfront 2 bedroom condo.

My wife and I visited Cranberry as part of a promotion...time share presentation. We went with no intentions to purchase a time share, but thought we would have a nice weekend at the resort. Having to pay $150 + do the time share we expected to have a nice weekend in quality accomodations. Big and wrong assumption on our part!

When we arrived we were extremely underwhelmed. Our room was brutal...this was on par with a motel room. Old 'tube' television, dated furniture and decor, minimal pressure from the tap in the sink, and an extremely loud heating and air conditioning unit. We rented a movie immediately and had to have it removed from a bill when all the video channel could emit was static.

How these people can call themselves a resort is beyond me. The rec centre as an example included a handful of arcade games that were at least 10 years old, the shuffle board table was not maintained, etc....we were there for 5 mins...how's that for recreation!

I do have to give the Memories Restaurant kudos however. The dinner we had there was excellent, and good value. It was the one positive in the weekend, great wait staff and amazing cuisine, although the menu was a bit limited, the food was excellent.

All told, I find it hard to believe that anyone would pay more than $150 for a couple of nights at this place. Unfortunately, we did plus had to do the time share presentation. For those considering attending, don't. We were told in our presentation that Cranberry would be the "Disney of the North"!!! Any interest I may have had went out the window with that statement....they need to be a resort first before having such lofty goals. We were blunt and told them we would not be purchasing and we were able to end our presentation after 90mins. Having to resort to high pressure sales pitches should be the red flag one needs to see that the product that is being sold can't sell itself. As well, anyone serious about trying to sell a legitimate program like this would have put you up in the actual suites so you could experience the product, not rely on a visit to the suites to compel you to spend thousands of dollars.

The one positive from the weekend was we got a pair of movie tickets...then again, I could have spent $25.00 vs $150 + my time and gotten that perk! We have usually gone to Blue Mountain for a weekend in November...we decided to change it up this year which we now regret. We will be going back to Blue Mountain in future years...and suggest you do the same.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience.
It does come as a surprise to us because we do survey all guests upon completion of their presentation and we are always at an above 90% positive average.
I understand that there are areas within the resort that are still awaiting renovations, but they are scheduled for the very near future. We have completed many levels of construction, renovations and pride ourselves on the quality that we can now provide.
Please take the time to forward me your information so I can investigate the situation within the next week, and respond back with proper clarification. It is our purpose to provide the best possible guest service, and we do not want a similar situation to occur in the days ahead.

We booked a promotional weekend package at The Cranberry Resort, we expected to stay at the resort. Unfortunatly we were checked into a run down motel on the side of the road, and I mean run down. The only opportunity for us to even see the resort was during our timeshare presentation. At the end of the presentation we were sat at a table and the pressure was applied for us to drop thousands of dollars on the spot on a timeshare that made no financial sense at all. Beware.......

I would like to thank you for taking the time to inform us of your experience. We at Cranberry Resort value the options of all guests and appreciate the feedback. The hotel rooms are scheduled for renovations and upgrades very shortly. We have renovated many areas of the hotel and continue to improve our property. Upon booking your package it was explained that you would be attending a presentation about the resort, I apologize if it seemed high pressured. These issues have been shared with the appropriate department heads and team members.
